Tomasula to be Fired by 49ers after 1 Season?
According to CBS Sports citing Mike Florio. Jason LaCanfora also quoted. Highlight of the article:
2015 was an abject nightmare for San Francisco, with owner Jed York and Baalke dumping Jim Harbaugh (who promptly turned Michigan back into a national powerhouse without really recruiting anyone) and replacing him with Tomsula.

He looks incredibly sane now doesn't he?

Could you imagine if players responded to Harbaugh's style of coaching? /s
January 3rd, 2016 at 1:29 PM ^
He hates recruiting too.
There is clearly a coaching issue over there, can't be anything else.
ROFL - reminds me of a story. I'll keep it brief.
We had a business consultant come in to fix "us". After an insane amount of money, I heard the following while she was in the owners office. "Have you ever considered that you might be the problem?". Odd, we never saw her after that.

Cool story bro

Me too, who else would fire Jim Freakin Harbaugh?
January 3rd, 2016 at 1:07 PM ^
Harbaugh is the best coach on the planet and he is ours. Jed's incompetency will pay us dividends for many years.

Geez Jed, and I didn't get you anything.

We should build a statue.

That organization is in shambles. So glad Harbaugh got out of there.

Bludgeon!
January 3rd, 2016 at 1:01 PM ^
I'm guessing the Niners are gonna go the Stanford route for the third time with Shaw... Hopefully Shaw rejects them.
January 3rd, 2016 at 1:04 PM ^
Seems some buzz on the "genius" Chip Kelly going there but no way he could work with Baalke. I think if Kelly coaches in the NFL next year he goes to Cleveland where he was offered previously by Haslem and could probably (despite the nightmare of personnel in Philly) get control of that there.
David Shaw would have to be intoxicated to take the 49ers job.

Tennessee is the likely destination

Idk what NFL FO would be insane enough to hire Chip Kelly after all the rumors about him not being able to relate with any of his colleagues/players came out.
Even Bill Belichick can do that.
Sounds toxic for any NFL lockerroom

...obviously

...is almost as lengthy
I was alive for all the key depressing moments (Red Right 88, The Drive, The fumble, The Move, Chris Palmer, Tim Couch, Holmgren, Haslem etc.)
The pain is probably similar.
January 3rd, 2016 at 1:02 PM ^
Have u ever heard him do an interview...oh boy! To think they ran JH off to hire him is a joke!

Have you ever heard him fart during a presser? That's equally impressive IMO.
January 3rd, 2016 at 2:12 PM ^
I thought you were joking. Then I watched that vine with sound for like five minutes while I ate my sammich.
Nothing but respect for him... /fart noise
January 3rd, 2016 at 2:14 PM ^
I didn't understand the hiring before.. But after seeing this is becomes very clear. The guy just kills it in interviews!
January 3rd, 2016 at 1:02 PM ^
Blowback the organization got from fans. They have to do something. Thank God they did the wrong thing last year!
January 3rd, 2016 at 1:04 PM ^
Urbz, B. Kelly, Mork, Jim Cadwell.
January 3rd, 2016 at 1:06 PM ^
Urbz be a splash hire for sure (for like $8 million a year) but he'd want personnel control and his offensive schemes would get REKT in the NFL vs. that level of athlete.
See Kelly, Chip
January 3rd, 2016 at 1:19 PM ^
I don't know, it seemed like Chip Kelly the coach did pretty well. Chip Kelly the GM was horrid though.
January 3rd, 2016 at 1:24 PM ^
I don't get why people keep saying Kelly was a total failure. The Eagles sucked and he took them to the playoffs 2 years in a row. That's an achievement in itself, even if they struggled this year

January 3rd, 2016 at 1:51 PM ^
Huh? The Eagles had one bad year but were generally averaging around 10 wins per year under Reid. Kelly had one good year and then cratered when he took over GM duties. He had no clue how to build a team or get rid of players. Outright cutting some players and overpaying (and misusing) others.
January 3rd, 2016 at 1:59 PM ^
I should clarify. As a coach he was not a disaster; as a GM he was

Urban Meyer's offense is a lot more "pro style" than people commonly believe. His running game is absolutely suited for the NFL. Passing not so much, but that could easily change.
January 3rd, 2016 at 2:22 PM ^
His offense relies on QBs that are more running athlete than passer. That's not to say they can't throw the ball, but they clearly aren't accomplishing anything in the NFL after playing for him.
January 3rd, 2016 at 7:38 PM ^
has turned out to be a pretty good player. So it's not like they aren't accomplishing anything in the NFL. Yes, they probably don't learn the mechanics and reads in his system to be as NFL ready as guys from other systems, but some of his guys will be talented enough to learn if given time.
January 4th, 2016 at 8:34 AM ^
I don't recall Smith doing much in the NFL before or aftet Harbaugh. He may have and I just don't know it due to not following the NFL at all closely. Besides, that is one, possibly decent, QB out of how many he's had?
Plus, wasn't Smith already at Utah before Meyer was the coach?
January 3rd, 2016 at 9:51 PM ^
If that was the case Braxton Miller would have remained the starting Qb.
January 4th, 2016 at 8:29 AM ^
Miller was smart to switch to receiver when he did. It's his best option to be long term in the pros. Him, Barrett, and Jones all look to have little chance of being starting QBs in the NFL except for the possible dumpster fire with no viable starter. That could be my bias talking, but neither Meyer (Alex Smith being the lone exception I can think of; and even he's iffy) and OSU don't have a great track record of turning out NFL QBs.
January 3rd, 2016 at 1:08 PM ^
please. And then we can poach Stanford's recruits.
January 3rd, 2016 at 1:14 PM ^
That would be nice, but David Shaw is one of the good guys in college football. I wouldn't want to wish the 49ers on anybody other than maybe Brian Kelly, Mark Dantonio or Urbz.
January 3rd, 2016 at 8:42 PM ^
After what happened to Harbaugh there I'd seriously doubt he'd even entertain the idea of the 49ers.

Jed York should fire himself. And I don't mean resign, step down or transfer ownership.
I mean I want him to hold an actual press conference and say "I'm fired".
