Tom VH makes an interesting observation, I think, about the smaller classes that we will have for 2014 and 2015. I really do think that these classes probably are where the ability of this staff to target and recruit talent early in the process will likely pay even better dividends than they do at present.

Also, the summary of WIlton Speight's stats - I couldn't find exact figures, but the 800 yards for 12 TDs and 1 INT after what I assume is only a few games is impressive. If you assume about 10 yards per attempt and a 55% completion rate, working backwards through the rating formula would mean he was at 199.75 in such a scenario.

In fact, his role may be increased as he will cover more than just Michigan recruiting but some other Big Ten/Midwest recruiting. The WolverineNation site, along with the rest of the ESPN Nation sites, were a failed attempt by ESPN to break into the Rivals/Scout/247Sports college based sites. Most of those sites revolve around their subscriber forums, and ESPN's forums were pretty much a failure.

The WolverineNation site still exists in a blog form: http://espn.go.com/blog/colleges/michigan/

It is essentially the WolverineNation site just without the forum.

I agree with Cincy, I thought the forums were excellent. The chats they held and the information they dropped there was second to none. Tom had as good of connections as anyone except maybe Sam Webb, but when you consider how expensive Scout is, Wolverine Nation was well worth it. I thought it was the best value in recruiting coverage, but now without the forums it's just not even worthwhile.

that comes up with bad similes.

I was only making the point that TomVH may end up with more recruiting coverage. It is bad for Michigan fans that he will cover other schools as well, but it may end up being good for TomVH in the long run. I still think the majority of his work will still cover Michigan recruiting. I do wonder if we will lose some of the features he had in the past on Wolverine Nation, but I think it helps Michigan fans to have a guy like him working at a national outlet like ESPN.

My bad simile was that they took a good product and diluted it to taste the same as everything else.
It's a pet peeve of mine that when someone orders top shelf vodka and mixes with cranberry. For one just order rail you will never know the difference. Two. What? Is it your period?
Hopefully it works out for Tom but as a Michigan fan and Mgoblog fan, it sucks.

told me Durkin makes players around him better and he is the next Warren Moon. Have to give points for creativity, never heard a high school kid in this day and age being compared to Warren Moon.
