Tom VH - Any updates from recruits who visited for the WMU game?
September 8th, 2009 at 2:06 AM ^
... but what is the latest on Mathis?
September 8th, 2009 at 2:20 AM ^
Came out to a practice and also the WMU game and seems to be "feeling" Michigan again. Some o.k. info behind the paywall but he was impressed with Michigan's win. He may be another smaller DB but I'll take him. If we can get him and Cullen along with a safety I'll be a happy man.

Had him pegged for Duckville and did not know he was at the game. Appreciate the info.

Our monster win over a MAC team coupled with Oregon's meltdown against Boise has turned the tide. Just kidding. But hopefully we are able to put a decent season together stay on some kids radar. We still have some important holes to fill, and some talented youngsters will still have a shot at early playing time next year. I still think there are better options available than Dior, but we have seen how effective Cissoko can be.

I wish we had Dre Kirkpatrick. Dunno why I thought of him.

Based on what I saw of the Bama game (he didn't even play). Most impressive true freshman I saw this weekend were Tate and Greg Reid of FSU.

FYI - linking to a certain media outlet is a big no-no here.

Mathis said:
"We loved it. I was loving the defense and I was loving the offense," Mathis said. "I felt a real bond with the coaches when I went down there too. They were talking even more about how they want me and I was really feeling whole process."
"I really paid attention to the defense and how they played their corners," Mathis said. "They played it just like how I would love to play. The corners were making plays, getting interceptions and coming up to make tackles."
"Their depth chart at defensive back is looking pretty good because they are short on DB's and are moving running backs and receivers to DB. They will probably move them back to their regular positions next year once they get their DB's filled," he said. "Me coming in, I'd probably fit real good and play real early."

A lot of the people from 2010 I haven't heard of. I'm assuming that a bunch of these guys are potential candidates for the walk on program?
Also, I don't know anything about the kid's skill, but "Justice Hayes" is a sweet name.
September 8th, 2009 at 9:06 AM ^
It looks that way. Robinson goes to the same high school I did. Last year he had the third highest rushing total in state history. I suspect he'll end up at a MAC school, although the State Journal said that Michigan and Michigan State were interested in him as LB/S in their area players to watch preview. That is the first I'd heard of that, so probably take it with a grain of salt.

Most of those kids are MAC-level talents or potential walk-ons. There were really no significant visitors from the 2010 class that aren't already committed, other than Mathis.
Also, Justice Hayes is probably the top in-state back for the class of 2011.

Well, there you go. Straight from Scout/Rivals. Word for word.

Is totally that hot girl in high school that swooned over every upperclass guy that took her out......he's hot and cold on a new team every day.
I remember I dated one of those girls. In high school (freshman year.) She left me for a junior who had his drivers lisence.
September 8th, 2009 at 10:18 AM ^
I bet she left you for a guy who could spell "driver's license."
September 8th, 2009 at 10:23 AM ^
Yeah, I talked to a few kids, and the post about it should be up this morning.
I've been in touch with a few more, so once that post gets on the front page I'll talk more about it.
Everyone that I talked to was really excited, though.

How weird would it be to have three players at CB all from the same school?
Dior Mathis, come on down.
September 8th, 2009 at 11:21 AM ^
We could have four...
Cissoko, Teric Jones, Mathis, and Delonte Hollowell (2011).
September 8th, 2009 at 11:44 AM ^
Wasn't even familiar with Delonte Hollowell.
Cass Tech? More like Cornerback Tech.

According to ESPN, Mathis is on record as saying he'll definitely take an official to M, along with MSU & Oregon, says that M is on equal playing field with 5 other finalists.

I've said this before, but we were never really out of it with him. Publically, yes, he said we were, but believe me, we weren't. He also said that he was going to commit to Miami on the spot when they offered, and he didn't.
September 8th, 2009 at 11:25 AM ^
I kind of always got that feeling from him and I still think there is a good possibility he ends up in Ann Arbor. I look forward to reading your update and I know this weekend is supposed to be the bigger one for 2010 recruits. Thanks again!
September 8th, 2009 at 11:38 AM ^
starting to remind me of Will Campbell.
September 8th, 2009 at 11:44 AM ^
He's much smaller than Big Will.
September 13th, 2009 at 10:01 AM ^
I dunno... Will DID lose a lot of weight.
