OG who was described as a "Major" loss for Michigan, who faced increasing doubts of laziness and unnecessary weight gain, had a lackluster Buckeye career and went undrafted. While Schilling stuck around and undoubtedly learned everyone divorces and that family is just a genetic misfortune, Justin escaped into the virtuous arms of Columbus, where he undoubtedly learned about virtue, love and loyalty. And honesty.
Congrats on your future in plowing - you made an ass of yourself on the way out but, hey, put an Eff Herbstreit bumpersticker on the plow and business will increase 300%.

Seriously? A young man changes his mind about what school he wishes to attend and we mock him and cheer the fact he isn't a millionaire? Sounds like a similar event that happened to a coach from West Virginia. I guess my pride isn't measured by the lack of sucess by others.

If ever there was cause for payback, this is it. The Boren family freaked out because Michigan didn't give Zach a scholarship offer. And PULLED Justin out of the Michigan program.
I'd say that much is the family's right, if that much was made clear to everyone. Mike Boren did sort of admit as much when he was quoted saying, "I will not have my two sons playing at two different universities."
But that's not the problem. The problem was the Boren family press release, cryptically blaming Justin's departure on an "erosion of family values at Michigan." And then refusing to answer questions on what the hell that was supposed to mean.
Michigan didn't offer Zach for the simple reason that Michigan didn't need a fullback. In the end, things worked out just fine for the Borens. But the "family values" meme haunted the Rodriguez staff for the rest of the time they were at Michigan. Unfairly. Without reason.
If you want to blame Mike and Hope Boren and single them out, under the presumption that Justin simply did what he was told to do by his dad and his mom, I'm actually okay with that.
But your post is the Fail of the Day.
The Borens deserve every measure of bad will they are now getting from Ann Arbor. If Mike Boren is now welcomed back into the "Michigan Family," or whatever catch-phrase anybody cares to use, I think I might throw up.
that I've heard twice already here in picktown is that RR swore too much for Justin's ears. Sheesh, where will you go to find a coach who doesn't swear? (well maybe the vest just lies instead of swearing...)

I hold no ill will toward people who choose to attend other schools. I hope Ray Vinopal and Cullen Christian have great careers at Pitt. I will always be a Sam McGuffie fan. I even have a soft spot for Ryan Mallett's crazy ass, and I don't think I even like him very much as a person.
What Boren did was different. He didn't just "change his mind." And it wasn't just that he transfered to Ohio State (which, yeah, FOAD). It was that he lit the town on fire on the way out:
Michigan football was a family, built on mutual respect and support for each other from Coach Carr on down. . . I have great trouble accepting that those family values have eroded in just a few months.

As soon as you get too comfortable you will take a glance at your most hated team's roster just before the season starts, and find Justin Boren's name.
Besides, I'm sure he'd fight like hell for a shot at an NFL buffet table.

He majored in criminology according to his bio, so beware when driving through Pickerington if he decides to become the Chief Wiggums of his town.
I'll give him credit though he didn't major in "Exploring" like another Buckeye.

I hadn't kept up on his pre-draft evaluations by NFL scouts, but I would have assumed he would have been graded high enough to draft in the later rounds. Considering that he was good enough to start as a pure freshmen, this has to sting in a major way for the Boren family, especially head asshat Mike Boren.
My belief is that Michigan wasn't truly Justin's real preference in the first place. He grew up in Pickerington, a close suburb to Columbus, and this exchange between Bo and his father is particularly revealing:
"You're not going to let Justin go to Ohio State, are you?" Schembechler asked Mike Boren."He's going to make his own decision," Mike replied."
The fact that Mike Boren, who played for Bo against Michigan's most hated rival, regarded his son's attendance at Ohio State as perfectly acceptable indicates that the Boren family's "allegiance" to Michigan was very thin to begin with. That's why he found it so easy to leave, and the family outrage over Zach not being offered by RR just added fuel to the fire.
I hope this is the last time I'll ever comment about Justin Boren, unless it's to evaluate the quality of snow removal companies in the greater Columbus area.

Boren called out Michigan for losing what Michigan is known for having and that was Family. We will never lose our family... Herbstreit lost his and that will never happen at Michigan. Boren was an arrogant bastard that got what he deserved.

At the first week of practice during RR's new tenure the coach brought out a few players to talk to the media. They were sitting at tables scattered throughout the large, upstairs room at Schembechler. A few reporters were talking to Boren but they drifted off---reporters often seem least interested in the OL.
I sat down across from Boren. Noone else was at the table. He didn't look at at me. I asked him about the pace of the new offense. He said, "The truth is I don't like it at all. I like to take time off between plays....I prefer huddles." He never lifted his eyes.
I then asked about Mike Barwis, expecting a more positive response. He paused for a long time. "The weight work is fine. But I just can't get used to the running....on the whole, I don't like it at all. The running..." The answer lingered, unfinished. He was clearly unhappy, miserable. I felt terribly for him.
Do I think Justin Boren is traitorous? Yes. A legacy transferring to (even) MSU would be one thing. But to OSU? But what would I think if he was an AA kid who had decided to come back home? Would I then feel the same way?
I wanted to ask Boren about the new zone (versus the old zone) and the interstices of the new blocking. But he was just in too much pain. He never looked up.
So, I am ambivalent. He was a person struggling and in pain and, in this, I have tried to forgive his choices. I wish him no ill. Schadenfreude can be satsifying, but I have a hard time working up to it here, though my rational mind wants to go there.
