Todd McShay calls BG most under the radar first round pick

On Sportscenter, during a "draft lab" segment Todd McShay named Brandon Graham the most under the radar first round pick and says when surrounded by talent he's going to be a force. He thinks he'll be a star rush LB in a 3-4 at the next level. No link to the video yet, but maybe it'll be up on espn.com later.

there also is an insider article by McShay that says BG, Bulaga, Dan Williams and Mk Pouncey are the four "safest" picks in the 1st round.

i'm baffled by all these claims that he doesn't have a high ceiling because of his height. of course he doesn't have a mario williams ceiling but the notion that he doesn't have pro bowl potential is nonsense.

and if BG can't hold up against the run because he is 6'1" while Derrick Morgan or Dunlap supposedly can has a) no understanding of body types and b) not watched college football

Ah, yes. The good ol' theory that "Freeney is good, so it naturally follows that someone else who's his size will be good, too."

Does it make a difference that Freeney and Graham aren't very much alike? Freeney is largely a speed rusher who only bull rushes an offensive tackle when he gets him off balance. He also has a lightning quick spin move that he employs frequently.

Meanwhile, Graham is more of a bull rushing defensive end who, as far as I know, has never used a true spin move as part of his arsenal.

Drew Brees is only about 6' tall and he's one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. That doesn't mean he's the prototype and that every 6' quarterback is going to be a Pro Bowler and Super Bowl champ.
