Tired of whanigans about 3 stars

Submitted by MGOARMY on
I know half the Meeechigan fanbase is crying up a storm about all our "poorly ranked commits". I can't remember what I saw it on, I think it was the big 12 title game, but they mentioned how during nebraska's great run in the 90's at one point they had 7 walk on's starting. Obviouslly they wouldn't had won those NC's if rivals rankings were out, because we all know you can't win games with poorly ranked players. Just ask Larry Cooker how signing a bunch of 5 stars means you will win everygame you play. I mean its obvious that's true because of the 5 straight NC's he won, o wait whats that, his teams underachieved and he got fired???????? How can we think Michigan will ever have a winning season again without 5 stars like Mike Hart? Wait, your lying there is no way Meeeeeechigan's all time leading rusher was a 3 star. Go ask Texas how hard its been winning games with a bum 3 star like Colt McCoy, that obviouslly isn't working out well. Next time you wanna rag on a 18 year old kids "star" rankings, please go elsewhere to do so.

Might as well make use of the thread now, though. So, what are people putting the over/under at for the number of days or hours until the next 3-star lamentation thread? I would put it at about 12 days, just because I think it will be quiet until Hankins makes a decision. He, being a 3 star, will reignite the fervor all over again.

Sorry for wasting your time, I thought my topic made it clear what this post was about. If you didn't want to hear about it anymore I don't know why you clicked on it. I really just wanted to point out the the part about nebraska's 7 walk ons starting for a NC team, my bad.

And the OP may not realize it, but he (or she) is preaching to the choir here. Everybody here believes that if Rich Rodriguez signed a camel turd, the camel turd would be a great prospect because Rich Rodriguez can spot diamonds in the camel turds. Stars do not matter. What matters now is that a kid commits to Michigan--that makes him an A-Grade recruit that Rodriguez obviously targeted since the day he was born.

Long enough to tell you you are wrong. Do a simple search of this site for "recruiting rankings." Amidst a ton of user generated posts like yours, you should find at least three different posts from Brian and others (Doctor Saturday was one) linking to actual data examining this issue. The available data shows that highly ranked recruiting classes do correlate well with team success on the field. Teams that consistently recruit in the top level tend to perform at the top levels, Highly ranked players are also more likely to be drafted in the NFL than lower ranked players. Recruiting classes don't guarantee a conference or national championship. They don't guarantee a thing. We are talking correlation, not causation. But all else being equal, it's far better to have a highly ranked class than not. And all the "Pat White/Mike Hart" comments in the world don't change those facts.

sitting hear stoned outa my freaking mind, paranoid about what would happen if they ever add a 6th star. I mean 5 stars are so stupid, it's not even an even number, how the hell, just how the hell can things be balanced when you use an odd number rating system. No longer paranoid cause i just had an aha momemt and see clearly that 6 stars would solve everthing

someone else posted another one of these 'stop whining about 3 stars' threads. i don't feel like anybody around here does anymore and when they do they generally get negbanged. you're in the wrong forum if you're looking for people whining about that stuff
