Tired of the BS (already)

Ok, its seriously time to shut up, sit back, and let this loss simmer a little bit. The fair-weather fans are already coming out of the closet, and this after our first loss? For as much as it hurts to lose this one, what with it being against little brother and us taking it to overtime, there's no need to despair yet. In fact, there is one major thing to take heart from: the defense played pretty damn good. Of course, they could've stopped MSU on every third and long, and should have. But, other than that they did a great job creating turnovers, stopping MSU for field goals, and over all covering up for an inept offense enough to keep us in this game. If our oline and offense in general were clicking like they had been earlier this year, this game would've been a blow-out, which gives me hope for the rest of the year in seeing that our defense at least has a chance to be good. So keep your heads up, and don't give in to the spirit of Drew Sharp. Go Blue!

I love all of these douchebag "fans" who are posting for the first time after our loss calling for his head, questioning RR playcalling. It's one thing for Magnus to say something but for someone who has never said one damn thing on this site it screams troll. I think that Brian should not let anyone make a new name and post for a few days until the trolls give up. Because I'm sick of this shit.

I'm sick of it too, especially these pricks who say "OMG, we're going 6-6 this year definitely". I mean jeez, suck it up a little bit, you'd think we just lost to CMU, Notre Dame, Wisconsin or something.

This loss stings, but does not feel too bad right now. It could have been much worse, but Tate almost pulled out another big comeback. We kept our dignity, the D somehow kept us in the game, and we had some exciting moments in the final quarter of play. Mistakes were made, but on both sides. They just came up with it this time.

Anyone that doesnt like this staff is insane! I thought we would lose this game to start with.It still sucks but we have next week to get back at whats important this season, getting better each week. Go Blue!

There is a difference between, "I think Rich Rod could have done a couple of things differently" and "FIRE RICH ROD! WHERE IS MY PITCHFORK!" This is a game Michigan could have won. We won against Notre Dame largely thanks to Rich Rodriguez's game plan. Today, we lost, and the game plan could have been better. But, we had an off-day and still nearly came away with a victory. So, if people start saying irrational things, you can call them trolls. But just because someone thinks our playcalling/game plan could have been a little bit better doesn't mean they are douchebags. Patriots fans question Bill Belichik. Doesn't mean they want to fire him.

I for one am not going to let this one loss define the season so far or the rest that is yet to come. We all knew this day would come when we had a loss. Yes it stings to lose no matter who it is to but there where a lot of good things to take from todays game. Our D played pretty good, BG stepped up his game today, Tate keeps grownig as a player and the most important of all is when we were seemingly out of it the team manned up and did what needed to be done instead of sitting on the bench and thinking of what could have been. They showed me a lot in thins loss and will be better because of it.

I know it sounds snobby, but if I see a "Joined" date within the past two weeks and/or point count under 50, my immediate reaction is troll unless proven otherwise. It was a tough loss, but that happens. This team still has a bright future, and I would not be surprised to see this team competing for Big 10 titles and BCS berths in the next two years.

Anyone that's angry we lost in OT to a decent MSU team after a 3-9 season when we gave away so many opportunities to the extent that they're throwing the team under the bus should just turn in their fan card immediately.

My take: after I talked to one of the players, he told me that everyone got a little too complacent and felt pretty easy going about it. Now, this will (hopefully) show them they really have been getting lucky, and they will buckle down and get their heads back into it. That is the sentiment also expressed in some (i know, i know) player facebook statuses, so let's hope they take it to heart. Nothing can light that fire under your ass like a loss to your little brother. I really don't want to spend another New Years in Toledo, so here's to hoping they buckle down and get to a florida bowl!

As you probably know, the intelligence level of *all* message boards tends to drop dramatically immediately after losses. That's true of pretty much all the message boards, regardless of sport. I don't think there's much that can be done about it, other than strong moderation and posting restrictions. Come Monday, I suspect you'll see a lot more intelligent conversation. Right now, it's very emotion (and perhaps alcohol) driven.

Unfortunately, I don't think they're all trolls. I think you inevitably have some lunatic fringe with the need to vent online. Hope they feel better. I especially like the guy who called out the fans who have "gone soft" by not getting worked up about a loss to State. What the hell is that even supposed to mean? By "gone soft," I assume he means "found some perspective."

BlockM

October 3rd, 2009 at 5:53 PM ^

Yeah, getting worked up is different than calling the coaches' talent into question. I'm worked up. I'm angry we lost, especially when we had so many dumb mistakes, but that doesn't mean I'm angry AT the coaches or the players. Sucks we had to play so poorly in this game, sucks to have the unblemished record disappear, but we sack up and jump right into preparing for Iowa.

I just wanted to say I combatted everyone's negs in this thread. I hate the abuse of the neg button. If you say something stupid or go all bouje on a thread, you deserve a neg or a negbang...but not for making a comment someone doesn't agree with... that's just stupid.

and therefore one of the dreaded posting newbies, my view is that if you had told me State would score only 20 through 4 quarters, I would has taken it in a heartbeat. If you had told me that Tate would lead the team to 2 TD's in the fourth quarter to tie the game, I would have taken that too. If you had told me that UM would go into Spartan Stadium and take the favored team to OT, I would have liked our chances. Yeah, it sucks Michigan lost and it sucks even more that the loss was to MSU. But still, it might be calming to have some perspective.

You must be retarted, did you not watch the game, if for one second you did not believe Michigan should have won that game you are an idiot!!!! Watch the game with some objectivity and not some Maize and Blue glasses, your comments are off the wall and brutal....yes I did not expect Michigan to be 4 and 0 going to MSU but after watching them go 4 and 0 I think they should have easily won that game, the play calling was terrible, and yes it was on the coaches, if you couldn't watch tape and know MSU can't defend the pass your ignornant...yet Michigan spent 3 quarters trying to run the ball, tell me Bouje, what sense did that make.....dumb ass!

October 3rd, 2009 at 6:00 PM ^

You say that: "Michigan should have easily won by 10 if it wasn't for our stupid coaches and their play-calling" And I say "It wasn't really the coaches horrendous game-plan". Who has on the Maize and Blue glasses? Like I said you said "I question the RR hire" you're a troll, an idiot, or most likely both. Again play in traffic.

Yes, I am (or "are" as you'd likely say) retarted. First I had a tart, then I lost her, now I'm getting one back. Correct, I did not watch the game. I was at my spelling and grammar class. You'll likely have to take one when you get to middle school. I am ignornant, which I assume means that when small creatures such as "ants" approach me, I ignore them.

overall D was good, though contain on cousins was apparently horrible. had to have had 50+ yds rushing. and jt floyd frustratingly played 10-15 yds off his receiver but other than that i cant complain much. they made some plays

Maize and Blue…

Did you watch the game? Brown and Minor combined for 10 carries so how is that trying to run the ball for three quarters? Tate threw the ball 32 times how is that trying to run the ball. Not to mention all the times he couldn't throw because he was for his life. We faced a desperate team in their house. This was our freshmen's first road test and Tate led us on a 92 yard TD drive in the final 2minutes+ to forge a tie in a game that State dominated statistically for three quarters. We also fumbled the ball at the 10 going in for a score and gave up the ball at our own 17 after a bad bad decision on a rugby punt. A bitter pill to swallow indeed but, you have to be pleased with the heart the team played with down 14 late in the fourth quarter on the road and the sky opening up. A State fan setting next to me said as we took the ball 92 yards from the end zone that this is what legends are made of and Tate made us proud. Unfortunately we lost in OT.

5 weeks ago if you tell me we are 4-1 going to Iowa I would be very happy. Well,...were 4-1. Our team is young and the youth showed today with drops, missed tackles, missed blocks, and missed assignments (you can;t gameplan for a landslide of youthful mistakes). Now with a road game under their belts, let's see how they bounce back against Iowa. It sucks we lost but I gotta tell you, I love this year's team. Lot's of youth which makes it fun some times to watch and sometimes tough to watch but overall, these kids have heart and are representing the Maize and Blue proudly.

1. "We're 2-3 and UM is 4-1. We're not better than UM yet." 2. "UM will probably end up in Florida on New Year's Day, but we will be in Detroit at best because we gear our entire season toward beating UM." 3."That makes us 30-67-5 against UM. That means we only have to win the next 37 to break even." 4. "Let's just go inside and relax instead of burning that couch." 5. Thanks to this win, I can subject UM fans to 365 more days of Spartan Douchebaggery."

The contain, in most cases, was awful. What's worse is many of Cousins' runs resulted in first downs (or close to) on second and long and third and long. The D-Line definitely showed flashes of promise, though. More so, I thought, than in past games. BG, Mike Martin, and RVB were consistently making plays throughout the day.

Your just as retarded...keep routing for Lloyd Carr 9 win seasons....this was a winnable game and quite simply the coaching staff brought nothing new to the table to win the game, that is why we lost, again, I never expected to be 4 and 1 at this point, but once we were 4 and 0 there was not a single reason we should have lost this game, none, go with what works, pass the ball.....it was simple again MSU couldn't defend Bouje's Mom rolling down line at 330 lbs....

This Michigan team is right on schedule, nay, a little ahead of schedule, they fought and fought to the last play, I feel hearty in my approbation and lavish in my praise for a hard fought defeat. RR is building a program, I can see it , glad tidings are on the horizon, we are going to lose some more games, but we are going to pull a few upsets too.

I have read all your posts on here and you have to be one of worst posters on this site....you are one of those guys that sits home and cuffs your carrot watching re-runs of MASH....watch the game and post objectively otherwise your comments are off base and unrealistic, this was a winnable game, the coaching staff just didn't cut it, plain and simple we were outcoached by Tressel's little brother!

You know, let's keep the masturbatory references to a minimum on this board. I'm sure you feel like a tough guy trolling on message boards ranting about certain posters and how your a "real" fan, but you sound like an idiot and should look for some other release. Listen, go to mlive, RCMB, freep, whatever - there are a million message boards where people can just rant without any repercussions. But have a little respect for a site that actually gives a crap about quality.

Yeah so losing sucks, but honestly our record is better than it was last year and so I for some reason can't get too mad from today. I still feel really good about this team, whether we win only two more this year or whether we lose only two more, the future of this team has no limits IME. So today sucked, but we'll get back to the top one day.
