Timing is Everything

Can you picture Richard Rodriguez today?

"I was playing without my punter on that last Saturday of November for some chicken shit team  violation that cost me at least 7 points.  What if that little dick had been missing half his offense, like he should have?   The Feds had to wait until December didn't they?   You couldn't have moved that raid up a couple of weeks.   Leave it to the governement to take 7 months to organize a raid on a tattoo parlor.   Sure the win would have had an asterisk, but it would have been enough.   Mother ffffffffffffffff.......   3 years being told I was adirt ball?   Uh huh Uh huh..........I tell ya what I'd like to take that little prick and ....never mind.   Great to see the basket ball team getting some wins now.  Thanks a lot Coach, would have been nice to have recruits in watching  us beat MSU.  That would have been helpful."

All his dog can do is look back with that quizical look.

This ride has been wild.  It hasn't been all bad or all good, but if you consider Michigan's fortunes and their rivals success since Bo died up until Rich got canned and then notice the flip of such success since Hoke came in.  It is kinda remarkable.

Rich-OSU violations swept away

Hoke-Shitstorm coming down

Rich-MSU's best football season in over 40 years

Hoke-MSU's worst basketball season in 15 years

Etc...

But after OSU and MSU, I think he might be one of the lost Blues Brothers, on a Mission from God. Because it's been divine to be a Wolverine this week.

everything has gone perfectly for Brady Hoke.  He's been watching from 2,000 miles away for the last 2 years, as every single impossible domino fell and opened up the path to his dream job.  Lament RR.  But be glad the new guy has this type of fortune smiling on him.

I have no idea the reason, but he didn't get arrested or make it in the news so I would assume it was booze or grades and not something that could bring down the whole program.

I just thought it was funny.  I keep picturing Rich in this kind of perpetual Curb Your Enthusiasm episode.   I'm all done examining his merits/flaws, I just feel bad for the guy and I have to imagine he feels some self pity from time to time.  I could see today being one of those days.

Cool story! I believe in making your own luck and Hoke has handled the job better in his brief time way better than RR ever handled the job.

The OP brings up great points. It really seems like Hoke is going to be far more blessed than RR and timing was a huge factor.

The fact that there are Michigan fans (the proprieter of this site included) who have mixed feelings about that just blows my mind. No one wants to be stupid, but I've also found that intellectual arrogance can be quite the burden through this thing we call life.

Just enjoy it, everybody.

What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

FWIW Rich Rodriguez will have his day again somewhere maybe as an HC or maybe running his offense and I'm sure he'll meet Tressel again on the field. Hopefully he has the opportunity to push the pedal down with a defense that, well, plays like Jeff Casteel coached it.

Karma's a bitch and sooner or later everyone cheating gets theirs (I am, barely, old enough to remember the SMU teams of the 80's, the Oklahoma Bosworth years, Barry Switzer, the Washington penalties, Alabama (most of the post Bryant era) etc. etc.).
