Time To Put This Behind Us And Rally!

Submitted by bklein09 on

Alright MGoNation, we've been dealt a big blow. We are all devastated, reeling, and feel doomed. I keep coming onto this site every few hours (minutes) hoping to see that the tide has turned. That we have moved on and are back to feeling that this is the year we can begin to right the ship. I keep looking for hope, from Brian, Tim, or anyone for that matter. Sadly it has not come.

But let us all think for a minute about the team. The team that all of our hopes and fears for the season are centered around. They were dealt a much bigger blow yesterday than any of us were. And unlike us, they don't have the luxury of wallowing in pessimism for the next week or so while they try to move on from the loss of their senior defensive captain. Instead they had to strap on their pads this morning and work harder than ever to ensure that they represent themselves, their families, their teammates, their school, and their fans (us!) in a way that will make everyone proud.

I think it is time for us as a well respected blog community to follow the lead of T-Wolf's teammates and start rallying around this team with confidence and pride. Every post I see is filled with so much negativity about how many games this will cost us or how many yards each QB-WR combo will pass for against us.

What is JT Floyd or Cullen signed on here and read all of that? Do you think its going to help them play better this season, knowing that some of the most diehard Michigan fans have given up on them? Not one down of football has been played yet people! Maybe the loss of Woolfolk will cause us to lose more games and give up more yards than we would have, but maybe it won't! The beautiful thing is that we'll never know! All we have is what's in front of us! If we expect our boys to play with confidence this year, than it is our responsibility to have confidence in them.

We have less than 17 days until the season begins. How those 17 days go on this blog is up to us, just as it is up to the team to spend the next 17 days making themselves into the most hungry, determined, pissed off group of Wolverines in the past decade. The chips are stacked against them, against all of us. We can't control that. What we can control is how we respond.

Yea for positive thinking!!! We were going to have to win shoot-outs anyway. Now Denard and Tate and all our great offensive weapons have to step up a little bit more. Look forward to beating OSU 70-63!!!

All Big 10 Frosh, CB

How's that for optimism?

We're going to be fine. The team didnt give up and quit today because of Troy. They're working their asses off instead and they'll play for him

I really have dampened my enthusiasm at all for the 2010 Wolverines.

I'm giving you your point back with the point I earned from this post.  (I also happen to agree that negging him/her was well worth it for me, too.)

To the OP: I wholeheartedly agree on your sentiments.  And you're absolutely right that we will never know the impact Woolfolk would have made on the number of wins or losses.  Now, all that's left is to support our guys the best way that we can.

Floyd and Christian, we're behind you and eager to see what you can do on September 4th.

Gald I am not the only one who keeps coming here hoping it will all be OK.  Its like, maybe Brian will post some news that Troy is fine after all and it was just a big prank!

Glad you have gotten to a optimistic place.  I'm trying.

I feel very safe in saying that the players who are trying out for the corner spots right now aren't focused on how much they "suck" or how their being there instead of those who aren't has "ruined the entire season" for the Wolverines before it has even started.

There are enough athletes on the team to compensate here.  Also, UConn is more of a running team and ND should still be adjusting to their regieme change.  Michael Floyd notwithstanding, if things work out well, the new guys may have four or five games to get comfortable before they are truly tested.

I think they can make it to the MSU game at 5-0 or 4-1.  If they can, whoever is playing CB may have enough confidence and experience to keep Sparty from bragging for yet another year.  If that happens, the team will have momentum and can build from there.

I am totally with you. The chicken little shit is getting old. People need to grow a backbone and have a little faith in our team and the coaching staff. Who knows what is going to happen. It is Michigan football. In my world all Michigan football is good.

I'm not gonna lie, when the story just broke, I was ready to throw in the towel. But then I started thinking that even though these guys are inexperienced, they have 17 days to get the reps in and be ready for Sept 4th against UConn. I know CC, Avery, and Jones can do great things for this team. Go Blue!!

not blame RR for the defensive woas that we are about to expereince. He cannot control someone getting hurt or leaving. I bet peoiple will blame him for having a bad defense. I am just sayin.

We need to go to the huddle offense and play possesion football

Optimism is clearly more fun than pessimism, so i'm all for it!

Hey, this is kinda fun!

Serioiusly though, i fully agree. Now that the numbness has worn off it's time for us (and the team) to buck up and get shit done or wallow in our sorrows. I expect the team to do the former, so we should do the same.

JT, James, Cullen, Courtney, Terrence, Teric... etc. - We're behind you! We know you will bust your asses to prepare like never before and we're behind you 100% when you take that field to represent Michigan!

Go Blue!!!!
