Tim Hardaway Jr signs rookie contract

Submitted by Michigan Eaglet on

Per mulitiple sources Tim Hardaway Jr has signed his rookie contract with the Knicks. The only place I could find the dollar amount was mlive, but it it a 4 year contract worth $6.1 million, or an average of $1.525 million per year.

I was trying to calculate this right out of the CBA, so it might be approximate, but based on being the 24th overall pick, here is how the contract would break down assuming he signed at 120% (which most 1st rounders do, based on my own understanding).

Year 1  $         1,196,760.00
Year 2  $         1,250,640.00
Year 3  $         1,304,520.00
Year 4  $         2,281,605.48
TOTAL (four years)  $         6,033,525.48
Qualifying Offer  $         3,335,707.21

As I said, I could be a bit off here, and do feel free to point it out, but this is what it might look like in terms of base salary.

Another solid Wolverine getting NBA dollars. Recruits see this and this will likely make 4 in two years this time next July!

I never claimed to be an expert in draft status which is why I never chimed in when people debated whether certain players should leave or stay. Well, the proof is in the pudding and I was wise to keep my ignorant mouth shut because I obviously have no clue on this subject. All I can say is well done for him (and Trey) for achieving what was surely their dream of playing in the NBA. Well done guys!

A bit surprised he went in the 1st round, but obviously a good move by him.  It will be fun to see him play closer to my current home.
