Tigers vs Rangers 5/19

Submitted by Gobgoblue on

Fister is on the mound.  Would be nice to have a good show for the national audience.  Go Tigers!

I am DRINKING a BEER while I watch.   Get at me, DarthWolverine.

The Tigers need to get the offense going.  Holland looked tough in the 1st inning.  A cold beer sounds pretty good right now actually...

Got married on Friday. Honeymoon in the morning. Drinking cheap leftover beer and watching the tigers split the series tonight. Go Michigan. Go Blue. Go Tigers.

Quietly Peralta has put up a great rebound season, I was unsure if he'd even be a part of the team in the offseason but he's bounced back nicely thus far.

I would agree with that. Peralta already has over 40 hits this season after having only about 130 in 150 games last season. He's already got about half of his total runs from last year and about 1/3 of the home runs already. As I recall, keeping him was not a popular thing in the offseason among those who frequent the sports talk shows and other sorts of popular outlets, but so far it has paid off. It is nice to see.

He had a bit of bad luck last year, his .275 BABIP was the lowest of his career so he wasn't nearly as bad as most thought, but still it seemed like all his power was gone from the 2011 season. To contend for a WS this team needs Avila and Dirks to be a bit more consistent, the latter has seemingly made adjustments already, so we'll see.

440 foot blast from the best player in baseball. Sometimes I think I take for granted how special it is to be able to watch Cabrera on a daily basis.

I love it when the Tigers are the national game! I can actually watch them now... I really need to get mlbtv or another service. Anyone have a good (not crazy pricey) recommendation?

Sitting on my deck...with a BEER...listening to the Tig's on the radio...while my wife is working.

Perfect? Just about. Waiting for the pizza to get here...

I know the infield isn't great, and they tend not to get to balls that really good infielders tend to get to, but I don't think I've ever seen them play this stupid. Really frustrating to watch

I'm not usually a Leyland hater but the bullpen management tonight was awful. The pen is obviously short because of Anibal and JV but Darrin Downs for only 1 batter? Ortega for 4 too many? And no sight of Benoit in a close game? The defense is a whole other issue but damn.

Because, that's baseball. It's a game of peaks and valley's. I'm not saying they'll be great but it's a fluid situation that will likely shake out at some point. I think they need another late inning guy to go with the Benoit/Valverde combo but this series as a whole was a bit of an anomaly, it's unlikely that JV/Sanchez/and Fister last a combined total of 9 innings in a series again.
