Fister is on the mound. Would be nice to have a good show for the national audience. Go Tigers!
I am DRINKING a BEER while I watch. Get at me, DarthWolverine.
The Tigers need to get the offense going. Holland looked tough in the 1st inning. A cold beer sounds pretty good right now actually...
I would offer you one!
Got married on Friday. Honeymoon in the morning. Drinking cheap leftover beer and watching the tigers split the series tonight. Go Michigan. Go Blue. Go Tigers.
Quietly Peralta has put up a great rebound season, I was unsure if he'd even be a part of the team in the offseason but he's bounced back nicely thus far.
I would agree with that. Peralta already has over 40 hits this season after having only about 130 in 150 games last season. He's already got about half of his total runs from last year and about 1/3 of the home runs already. As I recall, keeping him was not a popular thing in the offseason among those who frequent the sports talk shows and other sorts of popular outlets, but so far it has paid off. It is nice to see.
He had a bit of bad luck last year, his .275 BABIP was the lowest of his career so he wasn't nearly as bad as most thought, but still it seemed like all his power was gone from the 2011 season. To contend for a WS this team needs Avila and Dirks to be a bit more consistent, the latter has seemingly made adjustments already, so we'll see.
Francona and the front office have done a beautiful job thus far, but haven't we seen this story before of the Indians in first place in May??
Yes we have. I'm afraid the rotation won't be able to remain this consistent for the entire season, but for now I'll take it.
I'm a Tigers fan, but my fantasy team is riding Masterson and Ubaldo, so I hope they can keep their pace up for the rest of the season.
I didn't want to say anything beforehand, but no outs and 2 on base for Cabrera looked really good. On the first pitch? You da man.
440 foot blast from the best player in baseball. Sometimes I think I take for granted how special it is to be able to watch Cabrera on a daily basis.
I know I definitely take it for granted
I love it when the Tigers are the national game! I can actually watch them now... I really need to get mlbtv or another service. Anyone have a good (not crazy pricey) recommendation?
I don't think that was an error on cabby
Damn that was a bomb by Cabby though.
Sitting on my deck...with a BEER...listening to the Tig's on the radio...while my wife is working.
Perfect? Just about. Waiting for the pizza to get here...
And a tv over the radio. But close
Cabrera is just so good. If he isn't the best in the game today, it's damn close.
Bastard, on that upoercut swing.
Well I have officially accepted that the Rangers just own the tigers, no way around it for me anymore.
LOL you walked Miggy to get to Prince and it worked exactly as ought to be expected LOL
Throw strikes, damnit
Can't bury the hitters that are down 0-2, balls.
Why do you put in the guy who is fresh off of triple A in that situation? Why not Albuquerque?
Al New Mexico is in Toledo,
Bullpen is a trainwreck.
Fuckin ridiculous game
So damn frustrating
This has become a cluster fuck
They look like a bad minor league team.
This went from being entertaining an hour ago to embarrassing now
I know the infield isn't great, and they tend not to get to balls that really good infielders tend to get to, but I don't think I've ever seen them play this stupid. Really frustrating to watch
So cabby is a god!! And the pen has all but pissed the game away already
I'm not usually a Leyland hater but the bullpen management tonight was awful. The pen is obviously short because of Anibal and JV but Darrin Downs for only 1 batter? Ortega for 4 too many? And no sight of Benoit in a close game? The defense is a whole other issue but damn.
We might not make the playoffs if we can't get this bullpen thing figured out. It's still as bad as it was at the start of April.
Lets not overreact now lol.
It's not overreacting. If the bullpen has been the exact same for close to 2 months now, why will it get better?
Because, that's baseball. It's a game of peaks and valley's. I'm not saying they'll be great but it's a fluid situation that will likely shake out at some point. I think they need another late inning guy to go with the Benoit/Valverde combo but this series as a whole was a bit of an anomaly, it's unlikely that JV/Sanchez/and Fister last a combined total of 9 innings in a series again.
PS: The reply button can be your friend.
If they don't fix something they're going to keep losing to teams like Texas and Washington. They haven't proven that they can beat the best this season yet.
I agree they need some work and tweaking but perspective here a bit, this team was 20-21 on this date last year.
and the tigers barely made the playoffs last year. They had epic collapses in 2007, 2009 and 2010. They just plain sucked in 2008. They had the best team on paper last year and lost to the Giants who won world series with a much smaller payroll than the Tigers' payroll. If we don't win the world series this year, then we never will.
It's god damn despicable that a guy hits 3 home runs and his team still loses.
Miggy can't do it all himself.
ya know, or have people forgotten their two trips to the World Series in 2010, 2011
These are likely the two best offenses in the AL, right now Texas' bullpen is a little better, Detroits starting pitching is better until the Rangers get all their starters back. In the hitters park, Texas won this series, lets see how it goes on the return to Comerica.
The Tigers are still playing much better baseball right now than they were at this time last season. On May 20, 2012 the Tigers were 20-21
Didn't see you post it first, but thanks for showing the record from last year.
