I come bearing the gift of a live stream for all to enjoy.
I am new to streaming. Is there a way to get the ad box out of the middle of the stream? I can only see the players feet.
Edit: I just figured it out.
They better not score now or else we're screwed. No way we can make up a one run defiicit.
Huge K for Sanchez
Injured Miggy is still our best hitter.
Sure is, I was a bit surprised to see so many people wanted to see him benched. He's still gives quality AB's and can still drive in a runner from 2nd better than any other.
The key is getting people on base in front of him, which Torii and Jackson need to do. That's where his value lies, not in Miggy himself simply getting on base, considering he can't run the bases.
Unforetunately Jackson has forgotten how to make contact with pitches, but has remembered how to swing all too well.
Austin his hitting a robust 1-9 with 7 K's this series, and keep in mind he doubled in his first AB of the series.
God dammit Prince.
Anyone else watching on the MLB.tv broadcast? I'm a regular season subscriber, so I was able to get the postseason for $5. I have to watch on this stupid quadcam and it is irritating. How are the free streams?
They're fine. Meh quality, but its the regular TV stream. Only one camera, which is nice.
I got it for five bucks too, and I'm not a season subscriber.
I love the camera right behind the plate.
Any "safe" options for us stuck at work? Even just audio. This fucking sucks
I'm listening here: http://tunein.com/radio/ESPN-Radio-Special-Coverage-1-s111051/
Decent contact by VMart at least. So that's a start.
Lets get the bat going today boys!
Sanchez isn't very crisp thus far, pitch count in the mid 40's without an out recorded here in the 3rd.
Bats must come alive soon. And please no Alburquerque for more than 1 inning.
Ugh Miggy has to gobble that ball up. 1-0 A's
Hey guys...novice baseball fan here and I have a question.
When a batter reaches first base and then somehow makes it to second, then third and then all the way back to the home plate where they first started out....what's that called again?
And does this actually happen in games that you have watched? I just started watching baseball in the Miami series at the end of the year so I've never actually seen this event take place. Is it legal? Does the game stop? I mean this must be quite a miraculous occurance given how rare it happens.
back to VA from Michigan. GO A's, yes I'm a real fan, grew up in California.
Boy we're really making Parker work out there...seriously work some fucking counts guys.
The bats are so cold in the D....
Tigers. Greatest assemblage of choke artists ever put together in one lineup.
Has been brutal for the Tigers in this series. No real attempt at taking the pitcher deep into the count. Top of the order (save Cabrera's singles) has been abysmal.
20 straight innings without a run!
These at bats have been terrible.
This is the most hopeless feeling
Wow I am starting to think it is a blessing I have to be to work at 3 instead of a curse.
welp that's ball game
My god and now Sanchez is falling apart...
Now they have more runs than we have hits. That's embarrasing.
3 runs seems absolutley insurmountable, lots of time left but alot left to be desired the way the offense is going.
in less than 10 minutes things change....
I've never seen every flaw of a baseball team exposed in 4 innings. Now just need a middle reliever to come in and let 4 runs up and it'll be complete. Bats better wake up or this series is over.
Damn. Game, set and match. Gonna be pretty hard to right this ship.
You know, this is what is different about baseball than any other sport, really. All it takes is one good play, one good inning, and the game completely shifts in the Tigers' favor. The Tigers are notoriously good at putting 6 on a team in one inning. And once the starting pitcher comes out, anything can happen.
But this is starting to look like an indictment on Leyland and his coaching staff. Bad baserunning (i.e. sending Vmart, Igleseias' steal with 1 out in game 2) and the inability to adjust at the plate has led to a severe lack of run production the past few weeks. Llyod McClendon has been so bad to the point that players stopped listening to him (Maggs, Cabrera) and yet, he's still on the staff.
Another MGoUser astutely pointed out that the inconsistency in the offense isn't reflected in surface statisitcs in that they will go a few games scoring few runs and then have one game where they score 10. I think the Tigers scored 10+runs 18 times, but were shut out or held to 1 run 23 times.
20 straight innings without a run. 35 out of the last 36. No homers in 7+games.
I think the fact that they have 2 batting instuctors is a bit telling what Dombrowski might think of Lloyd McClendon. I'm not sure what to make of Leyland, because I don't really know what the alternative is if they don't bring him back, I can tell you I certainly don't want Dusty Baker or any of the other unemployed managers.
I'm still scared of Miggy
Wind knocked that one down. A hurt cabrea only one making strong contact this series.
Runs?!?!?!? What?? Come on Jhonny tie this game up!
Fair ball!!!! Tie game.
Tied up! Wow did Comerica wake up!
Keep it rolling!!!
Just here, watching the game with a beer at 1:52 PM (CT) with the girl that comes help us clean the house -She likes baseball and I don't mind- What a bum I am...
Your team ties the game back up and you turn around and serve up the meatiest of meatballs I have ever seen.
And there is Moss finally introducing himself in the series
He now has 5 HR's in 5 games at Comerica this year, unreal.
Tigers have all those righties, and he feasts on that
Damn needed a shutdown inning Sanchez
Get him out of there Leyland.
Picked a hell of a day to get rocked
At least we scored. See ya'll next April.
Well, back to where we started.
So the guy who gave up just nine homers all season in 180-some innings gives up three in 4.1 frames. Mother fucker.
It's called pressure. Some players (like Verlander) absolutely thrive on it. Some players (like the guy giving up all the homers for the first time all year) fold up and die.
Sanchez was money in the playoffs last year. Way to use a decent sample size to decide whether someone's clutch. You sound like ESPN after Lebron misses a game tying shot.
But that's the problem with the playoffs. It is a small sample size and always will be given the small number of games played. So while he might've been "money" last year he certainly wasnt today when the Tigers needed him the most.
But I'm sure Peyton Manning would agree with you. The greatest regular season QB in league history has a somewhat checkered record in the playoffs and for some reason people (and not just me) only know him for those shortcomings when it matters most.
Verlander has been a mediocre starter in the playoffs in his career. He's 6-4 with a 3.86 ERA and whip of 1.2. Before his last start those numbers were considerably more rotund.
Verlander's actually not been very good in the playoffs until last season. Decidely mediocre at best.
Alvarez, why not Porcello? I have no confidence in any reliever in the bull pen outside of Smyly, Veras and Rondon.
Because this game may already be over. Save him for tomorrow.
Unless a 2.00 ERA and 24/26 saves isn't good enough for you. No idea why you put Veras and Rondon on that list, but leave off Benoit.
Matt Vasgersian is a fucking tool.
He's from around Oakland and is an A's fan. He is pretty much openly rooting for the A's...
Absolutely embarrassing that MLB would have him calling this game.
I like him, but that's mainly because I think he does a good job on the MLB video games.
Vasgersian screaming like a little kid when Oakland has hit their homers. Still embarrassing in what is supposed to be a neutral broadcast.
Needs to learn to draw walks or bunt for base hits.
This got interesting pretty quickly.
Anyone watching care to explain wtf just happened? Radio has no idea...
Looks like Balfour was jawing to Martinez, and VMart was not happy about it.
Okay interesting, thanks.
Balfour likes to jaw in general.
Balfour's a real psycho. I don't know that he was saying anything specific to VMart though, but VMart clearly said something along the lines of "fuck you bitch".
Oh certainly, it looks like both were at fault. Obviously being bias ill side with the guy with the better track record in V-Mart. What a bizarre circumstance in a playoff game though, just real bizarre.
Yep, really strange. Not sure it was necessary for the bullpens to clear haha
Do you have to say anything when you're on the mound? Just throw the ball. If you get jacked after a big out that's fine, but it's every damn pitch with him. I'm surprised he doesn't get into stuff more often.
Of course I saw him pitch this year in a game where I was a neutral observer and don't remember having any negative impression of him. So yes I'm bitter.
I would tend to agree with you, and it certainly wouldn't be my style if I were a pitcher.
Benches and Bullpens cleared.
Bench clearing got me excited for game 4
Hopefully it'll get our offense excited too.
What a classless piece of shit
Has pine tar under the bill of his cap...
The game, and the ridiculous fbombs, clear as day in front of all 3 kids. Nice, MLB network.
I thought that was awesome and quite frankly that was the best part of the game.
Here's the final box score:
|Smith, S, DH||4||1||2||2||0||1||2||0.500|
|a-Norris, D, PH-C||1||0||0||0||0||1||0||0.000|
|Jackson, A, CF||3||0||0||0||1||2||0||0.091|
|Hunter, To, RF||3||1||1||0||1||0||1||0.200|
|Cabrera, M, 3B||4||0||1||0||0||0||2||0.250|
|Martinez, V, DH||4||1||1||1||0||0||1||0.250|
|Peralta, Jh, LF||4||0||1||2||0||1||0||0.200|
|Sanchez, An(L, 0-1)||4.1||8||6||5||2||6||3||10.38|
an ALDS swearing chart. Maybe next game.
issues with this team, Cabrera being hurt, fielder not hitting, jackson not hitting, peralta's suspension, they can still win this series but this team has struggled for 2-3 years at moving runners. we rely too much on homers and extra basehits. we strike out too much and leave too many players on base. i don't know what the answer is, this team has a lot of $ into it, offseason moves regardless...find another LF, potentially trade Jackson or move him down the order.
Left field had been a rotating circle of donkey shit. Guys heat up and then that get benched for a few games and then you wonder why they can't be consistent. Each one of those guys (Touy, Kelly, and Dirks) have had great weeks here and there but they don't see enough game time to gain any consistency. When you don't see live pitching for a few days, it messes with your timing. Pick a guy and stick with him.
And my point couldn't be made any more clear by Don Kelly sitting today after he had half of the Tiger's hits the previous game.
I think I might be the only Wolverine fan here, that's also an A's fan. One more victory for my A's and we will avenge the ousting last season at the hands of the Tigers. I know I won't be popular for coming out, but I am excited.
Tigers have not been hitting well for the past Month, I doubt if it will change. I expect the A's to wrap this up tomorrow! May be next year for the Tigers?
They've been mediocre for a month. A's have been great. Tigers are done for this year. They limped in. They'll whimper out.
But to those of you finding all sorts of structural reasons they're just not good enough or not built right way to win post-season or...really? You need to recognize & appreciate their huge playoff success last 7 years or so. Twice to World Series. Once more to ALCS, I believe. 3 straight years division champs. Made playoffs something like 5 or 6 of last 7 years. In baseball. Not other sports where top third or half the league makes playoffs. Tigers have arguably most success of any franchise in past 7. Just not the World Series yet, I get that, but they're not done for future. Whole team should be back. Plz don't touch it, in fact! (Except maybe a small tweak here or there: LF, more mid-relief/set-up.) We need to appreciate how great we've had it these last few years, IMHO
Just FYI, the Tiges have made the playoffs in 3 of the past 7 years. Not 5 or 6.
...it's last 3 in a row, plus 2006 makes 4 of 8. I must've been counting game 163 and forgetting some years.
Hope they snap out of it tonight, & then win game 5 with the aces...but, if not, I'd expect then right back in playoffs next year!
Braves Fan here.
Baseball hurts guys.
Facing Clayton Kershaw twice in a short series is just not fair. Also having to start Freddy Garcia in a must-win game is just not fair (I know he pitched pretty well, but c'mon, it's Freddy Garcia).
