the evil twin brother of Ryan Raburn, except he spells his name differently?
October 10th, 2011 at 5:32 PM ^
3run shot after a bull shit call
shot to left gives the tigers 3-2 lead
October 10th, 2011 at 5:32 PM ^

Johnny P with the wheels
October 10th, 2011 at 5:36 PM ^
is avila swinging at the first pitch? seems like hes grinding a lot and swinging from the heels. as much as the team needed a big jack by ryno avila needs one to calm himself down.
October 10th, 2011 at 5:51 PM ^
just FYI
October 10th, 2011 at 6:01 PM ^
but i was more confused about the swinging at the first pitch, and regardless of being hurt, a lot of times a player calms down and tries to do less while they are hurt, and are better. To me it still seems like he is pressing despite being hurt.
October 10th, 2011 at 6:49 PM ^
strictly a physical issue though. Mentally he is not making good decisions, in terms of swinging at good pitches. He was a very selective during the season and looked to hit the ball the other way, he is not doing either of those in the playoffs. I understand physically that he may be worn down and is not 100%, but some of his issues can be corrected by taking a better mental approach at the plate.
October 10th, 2011 at 5:53 PM ^
It worked!
I went out and fired up the tractor and when i come back the Tigers are winning...
Anyone need their lawn cut??
October 10th, 2011 at 6:00 PM ^
now water your garden!
October 10th, 2011 at 6:01 PM ^
Not to jinx or anything but I like that the tiger batters are being more patient this game than last when they swung at everything (at least after CJ left). Also, it seems like Scherzer does not have is best stuff but I love how he is pounding the strike zone. It might bight him later but walking people is the surest way to screw yourself. Gotta make them earn it.
October 10th, 2011 at 6:02 PM ^
Let's start taking advantage of Scott Feldman's tendancy to be Scott Feldman

Believe I just heard Terry Francona say "I've never seen a kid more comfortable in the clubhouse with just a pair of shower shoes and nothing else on."

jackkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkson
October 10th, 2011 at 6:29 PM ^
up? Leyland better not go to him in a one run game. The Tigers are not swinging the bats the way they are capable of right now, this is a Texas pitching staff that they have pretty much owned the last couple of years(Ogando being the long exception)
October 10th, 2011 at 6:30 PM ^
to come into the game. You are crazy if you think so
October 10th, 2011 at 6:27 PM ^
NOOOO BRAD PENNY. Stay away!
October 10th, 2011 at 6:41 PM ^
go. This is what happens against a good offense if your not hitting well yourself. Can't hold down Texas's offense forever.
Edit: Big strikeout there. Still one more tough batter to get through.
October 10th, 2011 at 6:40 PM ^
It seems like they're taking on first pitch a lot here...these look juicy. Oh well. Come on Scherzer!
October 10th, 2011 at 6:43 PM ^
BIG INNING!!!!
October 10th, 2011 at 6:44 PM ^
awesome job! coke for the next two guys. then on to benoit and papa grande to close it out.
October 10th, 2011 at 6:50 PM ^
out of that jam. Come on guys let's get the bats going. Hope Texas doesn't go to Ogando.
October 10th, 2011 at 6:54 PM ^
sure hope the plane has some cages to hit it. awful
October 10th, 2011 at 6:57 PM ^
one hitter too many ... so close to going to our closers. We may rue the innings we could not score against a mediocre pitcher
October 10th, 2011 at 6:58 PM ^
we'll get the leadoff guy on again and then purposely make an out by bunting.
October 10th, 2011 at 7:04 PM ^
swing the bats poorly against this kind of team and expect to get away with. Can't expect to hold a one run inning lead for 5 innings against a dangerous offense.
And Ogando will now be coming in for the top of the 8th. Obviously that doesn't bode well, unless the Tigers can find a way to solve him.
October 10th, 2011 at 7:05 PM ^
Tigers should concede. Rest for tomorrow with the way these clowns are talking about the Rangers bullpen
October 10th, 2011 at 7:14 PM ^
i mean Papa Grande has blown 50 consecutive slaves and if you get rid of April Beonit has been solid (if not living up to his ridiculous last year/gigantic contract)
and throw in al al who was the best reliver in baseball before his concussion. and every bullpen part of the tigers is awful and cant be as good as rivera or feliz
/ rant

The top of the 7th for us was really, really disappointing. Let's see if we can't grit out a win here...
October 10th, 2011 at 7:22 PM ^
was low. That was the same pitch that was called a ball a couple of pitches prior. With that said that first pitch that Avila swung at, is a pitch he doesn't swing at when he is right.
October 10th, 2011 at 7:23 PM ^
if your'e here leave. go cut your lawn again or something. thanks.
October 10th, 2011 at 7:24 PM ^
walk. Doesn't usually end well when that happens.
October 10th, 2011 at 7:27 PM ^
than a leadoff single, despite what announcers would have you believe
October 10th, 2011 at 7:31 PM ^
I mean, I understand your point, but it is different. It affects how both the batter and pitcher approach the next AB. Not to mention the whole point that you are not making the batter earn a hit, which they can only do about 28% of the time (though I understand this is prior to you making your point).
October 10th, 2011 at 7:34 PM ^
in the leadoff guy reaching via walk and scoring vs getting on via the single is 0.2 percent
October 10th, 2011 at 7:27 PM ^
It might be our night.. Come on boys!
