maybe i should have had greg howard write the brandon obit.
Tiger Woods in car crash
Best wishes to the family. How unfortunate.
That really sucks. I wonder how you hit a fire hydrant and a tree while your backing out of your driveway and get seriously hurt. Hopefully he's ok.
Weird indeed. Charges pending? Something is off here.
At least they're saying that alcohol wasn't a factor. That should stop a few rumors. It must have been a freak accident, like no seat belt and got a head injury or something. I hope he's ok. Weird thing from the ESPN article:
The Orange County Fire Rescue received a call about the accident at 2:28 a.m. ET. The Florida Highway Patrol did not report it until 2 p.m. ET.
way to get there in 11.5 hours guys...
Enough time to grease some palms and let alcohol metabolize. Very strange details around this incident.
So, if alcohol is not a factor, the only other items that would have him out at that time of the morning is a fight with his wife (I'm available if Tiger is no longer interested) or a diaper run. I suspect it isn't the latter as he probably has round the clock help.
CBS just said he had face lacerations.
Good to hear:
RT @BreakingNews: BULLETIN -- REPORT: TIGER WOODS' AGENT SAYS THE GOLFER IS "FINE" AFTER CRASH.
RT @BreakingNews: Health Central hospital tells BNO News that Tiger Woods has been released from hospital, his manager tells CNBC he is "fine."
Your tag line is oddly appropriate for the story.
How do you hit a hydrant AND a tree coming out of a driveway? Also, doing so AND hurting yourself enough to cut up your face WHILE going under 33mph? And accompishing this while sober(that's their story at least)? It's like letting a monkey do your taxes. It doesn't quite add up.
How would they know how fast he was driving? I'm assuming there was no cop in the neighborhood that caught it on radar. A lot of details here seem fishy.
The airbag didn't deploy, and it would have if he was going over 33 mph. I don't think they've given an exact speed.
Okay, that makes sense (although who really knows with airbag technology).
Cell phone distraction + not wearing a seatbelt
Just sayin. That's a plausible and likely explanation for it. But, that's a lot less sensational than wild speculation so people and news agencies aren't really mentioning that.
....this has cell phone distraction written all over it.
This kind of thing happens when you aren't looking where you are going.
Although the 2AM part is kinda strange
There's an article I read from one of the local Orlando papers and one of the commenters posted that he is a resident of Windermere, and that a lot of the local celebrities there do their shopping at the Super Wal-Mart around this time of night just so they can shop in peace.
That sounds plausible.
The tendency w/ celebrities is to look around for skeletons in the closet and try to find them even when there aren't any. Maybe Woods has his, I don't know, but this incident seems pretty innocuous.
Lots of people are going to try and look for something here - alcohol, drugs, domestic problems - and chances are there's nothing to be seen here. The man was probably making a quick Wal-Mart run, was distracted by something (cell phone, perhaps, as SysMark suggests) and hit a tree.
Nonetheless people will still analyze this incident like the Kennedy assassination looking for something suspicious.
I agree with your sentiment that people tend to make mountains out of mole hills, but Black Friday is the only day when shopping at 2:30 a.m. does not equal peaceful shopping. The cell phone theory is way more plausible.
I don't know. Unless it was pouring rain outside, it's hard for me to imagine that a simple distractant like a phone could cause him to lose so much control over his car while he was backing out of his driveway that he'd crash into a fire hydrant and tree. We'll probably never get the full story, though.
You'd be surprised the effect that talking on the phone can have. Taking your eyes off of things for even just to adjust the radio or air conditioning can delay your reaction time by up to 2.5 seconds. On the road that makes a huge difference. Backing out of your driveway less so, but freak accidents do happen.
I can back out of my drive way with my eyes closed. I'm kinda used to my drive way by now.
when the truth finally comes out. This story makes zero sense at all as it's currently being told on ESPN. Nobody hears an accident and reaches for a golf club, then breaks the back window of an SUV in order to remove their husband through it. It's so patently silly I can't believe it's even being reported. At the very least just say nothing until you have something that sounds plausible.
Woods is okay. He has already been released from the Hospital.
Who leaves their house at 2:30 in the morning on Thanksgiving anyway? Seems a little suspect to me, I have to think there is more to this story than is being published right now
Heading out to Black Friday sales? :)
Exactly. Old Navy opened at 3 AM this morning, and I don't care how rich you are, $5 for performance fleeces is too good a deal to pass up!
is handling this well
All I can say that the facts that are being published do not add up. A square peg in a round whole. At 2am you are going fast enough leaving a driveway to hit a fire hydrant and a tree to cause serious injury but they are saying that the air bags weren't deployed? All I can say, is that there is something fishy in Florida!
There's plenty of things that are "fishy" in Florida. Grouper, cobia, red snapper, bass if you are in fresh water, and more crustaceans than you can count.
Whatever Woods was doing in his private life is his own business. Besides, nobody who follows golf and knows of Tiger's obsession for practice would be the least bit surprised if Woods had his own key to the range and was on his way to get a little bit of practice in private.
And if I was Tiger, that would be my story.
Being Black Friday and low sales prices be a factor? lol
That his wife heard the crash and busted out the back window with a golf club to get him out. Now let's think about this...something doesn't add up...you don't smash out a back window unless a car has flipped over. Why not just open the door and help him out.
Also, police report that he had cuts on his lips and blood in his mouth and was drifting in and out of consciousness.
My guess is that they had a fight, Tiger said he's outty and went to leave. Crazy wife comes out with his favorite driver and smashes out a window. Tiger flies out of the driveway and jacks a hyrdrant and a tree.
What say all of you??
That sounds more realistic than what they are reporting.
If you're going to spend time on the internet fuelling wild speculation (which there is no evidence for) about the potential marital problems of total strangers, you need to get a life.
Find a hobby, take up a new sport, read a good novel, learn to play a musical instrument, do something.... but this.... suggests you either have way too much free time or way too little excitement in your own life. Let the Woods (Woodses? Woodsi? Woodsen?) take care of theirs.
or Woodsmen is what they prefer.
What does it say about your life if you spend your life reading and commenting on the wild speculation (which there is no evidence for) about the potential marital problems of total strangers? Furthermore, what about the exorbitant about of free time or way to little excitement in your life? Maybe press pause on your entitlement crusade and take a little time for introspection before posting.
LOL I *knew* someone was going to reply with something like this. People play their roles so predictably.
It's a very slippery slope you're standing on, because every criticism you just levelled at me applies to you as well - except you're one further step removed!!
Even if I, "spend [my] life reading and commenting on the wild speculation (which there is no evidence for) about the potential marital problems of total strangers", you're the guy reading and commenting on my reading and commenting! And *you* criticize *me* for it? Hahaha, it's too delicious.
By the way what the hell is an "entitlement crusade"?
Thanksgiving can be a stressful holiday.
(b) Wife busted back window with golf club, and (c) wife helped him get out.
Bonus MGoPoints for the poster who fills in the (d) and (e) and orders the sequence correctly.
He was probably in a hurry to make the black friday line...
no.. I'm not serious..
Tiger's short game has always been better then his driving.
First thing that came to mind is cell phone + pressing wrong petal or had it in wrong gear.
Had the wheel turned to back out (or maybe street parking) thought he had it in R, pressed the gas and that Cadillac V8 did some moving
Everyone has done the complete turn to watch out the back window while your going in reverse move, he hit the brake, but hit the gas instead.
Just adding some plausible scenarios....
but why did his wife smash out the back window to rescue him when his car was right side up after a crash that was under 33 mph?
Maybe because she was scared, she reacted in the moment on impulse, didn't take the time to think rationally and weigh the potential pros and cons.... who knows!! Any number of reasons are possible.
Is the situation unusual? Yes. But, the fact that some people have looked at what is an unusual situation and placed the Woods under suspicion by default, when there's no evidence that even suggests the claims that are being made... Well, people should learn to use their imaginations for more constructive endeavors.
Yeah, but it's not just the back window being smashed (which, as you note, is exceptionally weird) - it's everything else that doesn't add up either. They're obviously covering something up. Not that I give a shit if they had a fight or whatever. But they shouldn't make shit up when a law has been broken and the police are involved. Just sayin...
"They're obviously covering something up."
What evidence for that is there *at all*, let alone evidence that makes it "obvious"?
Seriously, I'm wondering. If you have some, post away.
Is it possible they're covering something up? Sure.
But there are numerous possibilities as to what happened.
As of now, there is no evidence to place them under suspicion yet that is exactly what people are doing.
Is it a weird situation? Yes.
Since when does that automatically mean something sinnister is going on, which, is the conclusion some have jumped to?
Well, if you want to split hairs, I guess no one can know what happened for certain, except Tiger and wife. I'd say given these crazy circumstances and their crazy explanation, and given the extreme scrutiny that a celebrity like Tiger is under, particularly because of his sparkling reputation, and also given the obvious reasons why he and wife might make up something to cover up an embarrassing incident (even if it is far less than "sinster") I'd say there's a very, very high percentage chance that they're making up at least part of their explanation. This isn't based on special info - this is based on common sense.
Woods is a celebrity therefore there *must* be a coverup going on. Him and his wife are definitely on the outs. This is the *only* reasonable conclusion to draw from the very small amount of information we have about what actually happened.
for the Thanksgiving holiday are true?
