Tickets for The Game

Submitted by MGoAndy on

Does anyone know what section Michigan's allotment is/is usually in? Also, if Michigan's allotment has already been sold? Four tickets together are going for a minimum of $500 a pop on Stubhub, and if we're going to be spending that kind of money I'd rather be amidst comrades.

Yep. There's a reason Bill Martin went down there to tour their renovations before he did the Michigan Stadium project--they did a great job. It's a great place to see a game, and I don't understand why any Michigan fan would automatically say no to doing it once. Greatest rivalry in sports--you'd rather watch it on TV?

Your opinions almost always suck and yet you continue to share them. Watching Michigan on tv is not even close to watching them in person. I have seen a lot of Michigan home games and I still get excited when I enter the stadium. You must lead a boring life if you would rather watch a game on tv.

The only time this is true is if you're in the endzone and the play is at the other endzone. Then ok, you can't see if the runner crossed the line like on tv Other than that, you get to see receivers run the route in person, even if you're so emotionally dead you can't get hyped from the atmosphere. It's how i knew the Lions waste a #2 pick in Charles Rogers. I could tell he wasn't even running, just totally gave up. They never show that on tv Now if they changed the camera angle to behind the QB and you can see downfield, basically a VR view from the stands, or even better allow the viewer to control their own camera view live, tv might trump in person. As it stands, they're too obsessed with the QB to ever not zoom in close even on passes

I was at Ohio state one summer for a tennis tournament and my dad and I snuck into the stadium (there was some construction being done and a door was cracked open). It was pretty monstrous and everything was pristine. Definitely intimidating from the on-field perspective. Only criticism is it looked pretty manufactured - kind of like a generically sweet stadium. Of course, I'm biased, but there was something inauthentic about it...

Once. After the Harbaugh "guarantee" win. Only place in the B1G where that has ever happened to me, (though I was spat on at Camp Randall once by a drunk student). So yeah, going to the Horseshoe is an experience.

Last time I sat in the M section was 2006, I want to say 35A, and other fans going vertically up the end of that walled-in part of the horseshoe.  Think there was also a small group in 29A.  Then they throw our band all the way on the other side in the "U" of the horseshoe.

Again, this info may be dated.  I've gone back since but can't remember since I wasn't in official M seats.

No. it's a horrible fucking place to see a game. I spent nearly 1500 to take my dad (an osu fan) to the shoe. Got 45 yard line seats. Unfortunately little did I know but the seats were in B deck. Which is under an awning. And almost completely blocked by pillars. You can't see the scoreboard you can't see the play. Fuck that place. Also. Went to osu wiscy game there a few years back (tickets were given to me). Sat in upper corner. Again. View was blocked by press boxes. Worst stadium I've ever been to. Never going. Back

On board with Bando here. I sympathize with the plight of paying huge money and being disappointed in the seats; that's genuinely saddening.

But it's a known factor. I've attended games there three times and basic research told me what tickets to avoid. As a consequence, I had a great time. Bando makes the argument for Wrigley, but it's the same as the argument for Tiger Stadium--some obstructed seats, yes, but also a great place.

Michigan Stadium is better, but that doesn't mean that the Shoe isn't a great setting for football, because it is. You'll get flack from fans, but be polite to those around you and they'll be polite to you.

Just don't sit in the B level under the upper deck.

Not only did Michigan Stadium have this problem until the luxury buildings, but they had a loathsome policy of putting students there since according to the AD 104,000 seats wasn't enough for the people the university exists for. I had a friend at Markley down the hall who sold his tickets cause he couldn't stand it, till we agreed to sneak him past the ushers to the proper student area (still not much better location wise than obstructed view)

Is it just me or has "The Game" nickname been way more prevalent in recent years? You guys know Harvard-Yale called their game The Game way first, right? It's rather charlatan to borrow and then embrace it full bore.

It's not nearly as bad as it used to be. If you have the money, this is a year you should go. There is no reason to be scared of them unless you either are instigating with them or you're not smart about where you go (i.e. don't walk alone in sparsely populated areas after the game).

I'm sick of Michigan fans acting like crybabies about going to games in Columbus.

You will not be attacked in the stadium. I went in 2014 and the OSU staff threw out several OSU fans just for yelling slurs at specific Michigan fans. They have cracked down. I was sitting next to drunk ex-frat bros and they were FRIENDLY with me. And this was when Michigan was WINNING 14-7 and tied at halftime.

As for tickets, I believe we are going again, but I would wait at least a little bit longer before buying as they should drop a little.

8C is Michigan's upper deck section. AA 14 or AA 12 are the really good seats that will be Michigan. I believe 8 A is also a few Michigan seats. Our band sits in either 8AA or 6AA. So generally you want to be in the northeast corner of the stadium. Avoid B Deck.

Even for big games, they almost always drop at least a little bit the week of because the people who have posted tickets but actually can't go (traveling for Thanksgiving, for example) lower the prices to get them sold.

Anywhere in A deck is a good seat and there are a bunch for $550-$700.

You should not be paying over $1000.

Agreed. I went in 2014 and wasn't harassed once. In fact the people I sat around were very nice.

Part of that might've stemmed from the fact that they did not deem us as a threat at all to beat them, but a lot of people act like going to an OSU game is like they're going to an Eagles game in Philly and they're decked out in Giants gear.

Just don't pick fights, walk in public places with a lot of people, and you'll be fine.

Dude, the OP says $500 for 4 tickets together? Is that per ticket? If that's for all, unless they're obstructed seats (B level under the upper deck as opposed the open end grandstand, see above) that's an instant buy. Don't read the rest of this post, buy. That's $125 a head.

If it is per ticket, keep doing research. But don't be picky--this game may be an all-timer.

I figured it'd go up immediately if they beat Wisconsin. Everyone now thinks they'll both be unbeaten. But holy crap, 3x the cost of seats at Wrigley, a stadium not even half the size. I know, it's hard to see pitches at a baseball game, but the Cubs with a solid chance at the world series happens probably no more often than a Michigan/Ohio game that's basically a Rd of 16 playoff Then there's Alabama vs A&M this week with most likely the same stakes, going for just $150
