Ticket scanning problems?

Submitted by preed1 on
In 2007 I bought a student ticket for the OSU game from a friend that has student tickets. It was time for me to get my ticket scanned he said my ticket has already been scanned. i had it in my possesion for weeks and was super pissed why it would work. they sent me to crisler but they pretty much said i was shit out of luck. i waited until half while watching the first half at a tv at the high school and then noticed they were just checking the ticket and ripped it off so i eventually got in. A similar thing happened to me in 2008, i bought a ticket for the Toledo game from another friend, again having it for weeks before the game and they said it was already scanned. Anyone had similar problems? Thoughts?

They were 2 different friends and i have used their tickets before and for some pretty good games: ND and OSU this year and MSU WISC last year. And they are the most trustworthy people i know, plus both instance i was told they have already been used not fake

Strange that it has happened twice. When I was in school I was given a set of tickets from my gf's parents and accidentally washed them in my jean's pockets. I called the ticket office and they were able to replace them by making a new set and sending me them. I was surprised this was possible. I thought about "losing" my season tickets or "never receiving them in the mail" and getting a backup set but never followed through with it. I remember people for the 2005 OSU game going to the ticket office and trying to pull similar things. I think they caught on and told people they were SOL if they lost a ticket for any reason.

That's not entirely true. I personally know an usher at the Stadium, and he says that they routinely replace lost tickets, even on the day of the game... They apparently see a lot of what are more or less "official" scraps of paper with something printed on them that people bring from Crisler when they have problems.

I received my student tickets to M sometime in early August. A couple weeks later I received another set of tickets in the mail. I was surprised to get an envelope with another set of tickets. They were the same row and seat number as my other tickets but had an asterisk next to them. I contemplated selling the second set of tickets, but decided against it. Wouldn't have minded making some money, but I was not about to scam a fellow student if the tickets weren't legit, especially since they scan the tickets here. In places where they don't scan the tickets and just rip them it wouldnt have been a big deal (certainly since people often don't sit in their exact seat, especially in the student section). I do remember receiving an email later from the Ticket Office stating that they had accidentally printed tickets twice, and only the first one used at a game would scan. They asked that I bring my second set to them immediately, presumably so I didn't scam some poor kid. I never did. It worked out well b/c I remember losing my first set sometime during the season and using tickets from both sets interchangeably throughout the season. On the plus side, I did however get an extra t-shirt (as I had purchased one already) that year as my reward for their mistake. On the down side, they both have Appy State on the back and I'm constantly reminded about it when I wear them.
