Thursday Night NCAAFB Open Thread - UNC@VT

Submitted by formerlyanonymous on
VT -14.5 to -15.5 are the lines I'm seeing. O/U +43 to +44. Preseason this looked like a great Thursday night game. It's still the ACC, so nothing would shock me as they continue their second season of ACC roulette (as SMQB would call it). I'll be watching this until the WS starts, maybe even through that. Discussion goes here.

One of the worst offenses in the ACC against one of the best defenses. I must be pretty starved for football, because I'm not going to like anything I watch all night, I can already tell.

I've never gotten these Wrangler commercials with Brett Favre. 1, if I were Brett Favre's buddies playing football on the other team, I'd refuse to allow him to play quarterback. 2, why does Brett Favre, playing backyard football, throw such an inaccurate pass that his receiver has to make a circus catch?

0-0 inside three minutes left in the half. Big shocker when the two most-hated-by-their-own-fans OC's in the whole conference meet up. I really should have been smart enough to bet large amounts of money on the under.

UNC's thrown the occasional decent-looking wrinkle into this game, but they've otherwise been basically the stereotypical unimaginative Big Ten team all season. They're like Wisconsin without big-ass linemen.

Well this could set up for a nice second half bet on Va Tech. I still think they win this game. If they're down 7, we could get them at a line that equates to only -1 or -2 for the final score. Big bargain from the 2 TD+ actual line. Thats where my mind is right now.

My drunk-as-hell roommate just spent last 2 minutes berating Tyrod Taylor for not extending his arm over the goalline to ensure the touchdown, noting that they have cameras everywhere and that Taylor should know those types of plays are reviewable. Gold, Jerry. Gold.

What an upset, wow. Impressive defensive showing by both units. TJ Yates also had some really impressive 3rd and 4th down conversions later in the game. Though it looks like Virginia Tech's offense is streaky as ever.

pregame environment is sweet. people were amped up especially for the whole metallica spiel though during parts of the game the students seemed uninterested in what was going on at points (at least from my vantage in the north endzone) thing that struck me as totally bizarre: no one knows virginia tech's fight song. several of my friends didn't realize it had words and no one sings it after they score. they just do fireworks and a cannon shot. the band is essentially useless also, i can't understand why tech didn't try to let UNC score a touchdown when they got that final first down. the game is over if you let them run out the clock
