Thursday Night NCAAFB Clemson@GT

Submitted by formerlyanonymous on
Open thread for those watching. 2 minutes left in 1st and GT already looks to be routing the Tigers. Nesbit's had some ugly throws but that option TD was beautiful.

The Paul Johnson offense is one of my absolute favorite things to watch in football. It was loads of fun at Navy and now it's just nasty now that he's got BCS-level talent. When it's rolling along it's just about the most entertaining thing in the whole country.

Seconded, MaizeAndBlueWahoo. It's amazing to see the triple option flexbone in action. No wonder Ohio State had trouble stopping it! I think GTech runs it beautifully, if not for the fact that Nesbitt is like Sheridan when it comes to throwing the ball. Oh yeah, can't be stopped in NCAA10 either.

For being one sided in score, this game is still staying interesting. Don't know if it's the option being executed beautifully, the cringe of the Nesbitt passes, or the joy in watching a Clemson melt down extra early in the season. Whatever it is, it's working.

Clemson: badly out-coached. GT: not exactly world beaters. took advantage of Clemson brain farts on special teams and had one great run. other than that, their offense - while fun to watch - is not terribly effective at moving the ball. the QB cannot pass, and the offense has an especially hard time recovering from penalties or plays that lose yards.

Yeah, GT's offense doesn't look like it's gotten better from last year. It's just a bunch of small gains and an occasional big gain. Passing game is poor and practically non-existant. I figured GT's offense would open up this year with QB and RBs returning, but looks like same stuff as last year.

... they showed some video of Terelle Pryor during a Pete Carrol interview. I never realized how bad his throwing technique is. The Vest has probably hatched a conservative game plan. I think USC is going to spank the Buckeyes...

Don't mean to take anything away from Clemson, who are fighting, but the Ramblin' Wreck is CHOKING. THIS. GAME. AWAY. And though I respect Johnson as a coach, he needs to rein in his moron QB and keep him from dumping 35-yard balls off to be picked off.

Now we see the effects of average S&C programs. GT looks absolutely gassed right now; not good considering they are a run heavy team. Glad to know that our boys are in tip top shape and are well conditioned.
