Thursday Night NCAA Football Open Thread
We've got three games tonight, two of which are already in progress, so my apologies for not getting to this sooner, folks.
7:30 PM on ESPN - UCF and Rutgers. UCF is up 7-0 with about 8 minutes to go in the 1st quarter.
7:30 on Fox Sports 1 - Rice and UAB.
9:30 on ESPNU - UNLV and Air Force.

For those that don't know, most Rutgers fans have given up on the team, hope the coach gets fired and expect to get blown out. So at least they'll be joining the B1G on a high note. /s

What is the story behind that? Just too much losing?

In the event that anyone was worried about Rutgers doing something un-Rutgers in the first quarter, the 33 yards on 13 plays should hopefully make you feel that your current assumptions about football remain safe for the time being.
UCF has about 4 times the offensive yardage right now, and indeed, they are up by 2 TDs already.

Targeting on the offense?
My head hurts just watching that.

I think that rule is only in the NFL -- not in NCAA football. It's really dangerous, though.

Interesting. I didn't know targeting could be called on the offense at any level. I don't know if the DB could even get low enough to avoid destruction on that play. Good luck with that in 2016, boys.

Similar to a hit I took once. Although I spun 360 sideways in the air.
Don't remember much but I hear it was amazing how much air I got.

Anthony Cioffi, just blocked a punt for a TD. He's a true freshman... good for him.

Not sure what he was expecting to happen after stopping his feet before contact.

I am beginning to see why most sites had Rutgers as 20-ish point underdogs in this game.

Yeah they're pretty bad. I think the last team with a winning record they beat was Syracuse at the beginning of last year.
