Thursday Night NCAA Football Open Thread

Submitted by LSAClassOf2000 on

Tonight's slate is thin but it has one game that might at least be interesting:

7:30 PM - Virginia Tech vs. Georgia Tech. - ESPN

7:30 PM - Iowa State vs. Tulsa - Fox Sports 1

Enjoy, folks. Some stress-free football for everyone.

Already week 5. By the time we figure out why we can't run the ball, the season's going to be half over. It's easier to be a hockey or basketball fan, at least they play a lot of games. Football is just one big tease

Vad Lee may not get the chance to do a lot of accurate throwing if their OL is going to vaporize like that all evening.

That being said, Georgia Tech has actually outgained the Hokies to this point in the game.

I just don't understand why everybody is in a race to make the ugliest uniforms in the history of the world. Who likes wearing these embarrassingly hideous things? Who keeps picking them, and spending money on them?? I don't understand

Recruits like new "fresh" uniforms and gear and that is why every single school is adding to their repertoire. You dont have to like it...but it will continue to romp in college football. Kids like the new uniforms...and seeing as how recruiting is the end all be all of college football...the new uniform trend is not going anywhere. This is VT's third uni in as many weeks.

As everybody and their brother is going uniformz, "old school" is actually getting trendy.

Growing up in PA, I remember when Penn State's plain white unis were a bit of an embarassment to PSU fans,  The attitude was it was something that Paterno insists on, but when he leaves they will be modernized to catch up with the rest of the world.  Now they are considered downright trendy.

That's the beauty of Michigan's unis . . . they are old school and slick at the same time.

At this juncture in the game, the only non-Logan Thomas offensive yardage gained by Virginia Tech would be the 2 yards gained by Demitri Knowles. It's been good for a 14-0 Virginia Tech lead, however.

As they say: "He's got all the physical tools". He's tall, has an arm, and he can run it. He just doesn't play quarterback particularly well. This will not prevent the Raiders or Jets for trading up to take him in the 1st round next year

Though, an argument could be made that it's a decent investment since Virginia Tech has been offensively deficient forever. He could maybe be molded into a decent QB

Tonight is not a night for football since my wife and kids hijacked the TV for the Big Bang Theory season premiere. However, a glass of Flor de Cana on the rocks with a lime wedge is a nice way to mellow out.

GT has been and will be inconsistent as long as Paul Johnson is the coach. Their defense actually looked good, but the offense is just stupid. The triple option had it's day, and is still effective against shaky defenses, but it's just not very flexible and takes way too much time. It's too bad, Georgia Tech has some deep football tradition. With their roster, they'd be smart to pluck an Oregon assistant.
