Thursday Night College Hoops (Drinks, anyone?) Thread
So...
Indiana @ Illinois, tipping off now 7:00 ET, ESPN
N.C. St. @ Duke 9:00 ET ESPN3 (WTF, this is really not on a cable network??!)
And for basketball enthusiasts here's a good night to catch the sneaky good Oregon team in action....Colorado @ Oregon 10:00 ET ESPNU
Go Illini! (Let's not hold our breath)

NC State at Duke is probably on midatlantic cable / local TV network -- lots of big ACC games are. I think ESPN doesn't have primary rights to all ACC games. It's just a guess -- living in Wash DC metro area, sometimes you find Duke/UNC games on Channel 20 here, not ESPN. I'm guessing that's the case with NC State / Duke.
Go Illini / Wolfpack !

IU kinda turnover prone right now.
Bold prediction: Richardsona and Paul will not attempt a 2 point shot in this game. Nuthin' but 3 pointers for them.
February 7th, 2013 at 7:17 PM ^
Paul just semi-dunked. Congrats on getting a 2 pointer.

Drinking a Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout. I will be watching Duke - NC State on my Xbox.

It would be pretty funny if Illinois won three B1G games and two of them were OSU and Indiana.

I am snowed in. So I'm watching the Rangers, drinking a Paulaner and finishing a hockey piece for my site.

I am currently drinking a Walking Potion, which is 10 parts sugar, 90 parts whiskey (I made mine with Woodford Reserve for the curious). Then I'll be moving on to some crisp Busch Light in honor of my college days. Go Illini! Catch fire!
February 7th, 2013 at 7:44 PM ^
Well this one's over, Illinois jacking up a million long shots and making 5% of them.
February 7th, 2013 at 7:45 PM ^
They used up their NBA long shot luck against Michigan.

I know this is off topic, but everyone is always talkin about how Jack Miller is so small. Well, there he is next to Bosch and he doesn't seem very small

Mildly off topic. Rode an elevator with Mitch McGary today. I really didn't grasp how tall he was until he's standing right next to me.

Good call. How you liking the show? I've watched through episode 3 so far (will watch 4 later tongiht). I love it. Very well done IMO. I can only imagine how much more suspensful it'll get as the season progresses.
February 7th, 2013 at 8:54 PM ^
Kevin Spacey is amazing. The plot is pretty intense. I know I will be bummed after episode 13.

Indiana is sporting an effective FG% of over 60% right now, and Illinois had reverted to their mean with an effective FG% of around 40%. Illinois is actually a 7.5 point underdog in this game, according to some sites, but then if you want Illinois to beat the spread, you might have to hope for the Illini to do the only thing that they statistically do better than Indiana - get blocks (about one more per game on average).
February 7th, 2013 at 8:12 PM ^
that Indiana gets away with a shit ton of feet shuffling and Zeller does that in particular along with his sharp elbows he uses and doesn't get called for.
Opposing coaches should start bitching about it constantly and maybe wake up the refs to at least consider calling him for fouls.

showing life, thank goodness

How did Illinois get this bad? They looked pretty good early in the year.
February 7th, 2013 at 9:07 PM ^
if by bad, you mean beating the #1 team IU...then I want to be that bad...JJ

This just feels like it's going to swing between 6 and 14 for the rest of the game
February 7th, 2013 at 9:07 PM ^
Yeah, very glad to be wrong.
February 7th, 2013 at 8:38 PM ^
I hate Crean's reaction after he gets a call. It's like he's proud of himself for successfully bitching to the refs enough to have them give him favorable calls.

February 7th, 2013 at 8:49 PM ^
they are getting absolutely hosed on these late calls.
February 7th, 2013 at 8:49 PM ^
If there was any justice, Indiana would miss the front end of their 1 and 1s after all of these cheap fouls going their way.
