Thursday NCAAFB Open Thread: #4 Ole Miss @ SoCar

Submitted by formerlyanonymous on

Looks like the lines are Ole Miss -4 or -4.5. Only a 7 point favorite on a neutral site seems a bit strange (I'd expected higher). I haven't seen enough of the Rebels to know just how good they might be, so maybe not.

Open thread for general discussion, click-clack, giggity!

FWIW, I come from a state with a massive memorial to the War of Northern Aggression. It's not to celebrate secession, but rather to celebrate the life of the men who fought and died to defend the 10th amendment of the Constitution. What's more patriotic than defending the Constitution?

Yeah, I know, ridiculous. That's just how it's billed in these parts. Anyway, the school has been making attempts for the last ~20 years to downplay some of the imagery, it's just going to be a really slow process.

Nutt's going to be kicking himself for that second-down playcall. Your offense is finally starting to move down the field and you go for razzle-dazzle right then?

Fuuuuuuuugly. What a terrible game.

Something I've continued to wonder about is the resolute mediocrity of SC football. Is it bad recruiting and middling development? Decent recruiting and terrible coaching? Does Spurrier just not really care anymore?

If the team just played cleaner, were in better shape, etc. they'd be an occasional contender. But as such, just a blah program.

I'm actually glad that their student body didn't rush then field, and the players didn't celebrate like they won a BCS bowl game. Ole Miss clearly wasn't a top 5 team as they did nothing this year that would warrant such a lofty rating.

Always glad to see pretender teams drop off. Plus not too sad to see a top ranked SEC team go down as well.
