Thursday Football Open Thread

Submitted by maizeonblueaction on

Even though we do not play until Saturday, there finally is some actual football going on. Big games are South Carolina v. UNC, and USC v. Hawaii. In B1G action, Indiana plays Indiana State, and Minnesota plays UNLV.

ESPN needs to show some of the highlights of Lou Holtz's tenure at South Carolina to the Gamecock fans. This should fill about 2-3 minutes perhaps if they really dig.

Seriously though, folks. Football is here. Let's make it a good season of both Michigan football as well as open threads, MACtion or otherwise.

EDIT: When I think Gamecocks, I think "Also Sprach Zarathustra" too...

Akron and Connecticut also play tonight. Obviously, I am not worried about playing those teams, but it is always nice to see how they perform, especially defensively. Offense could really rack up the yards if they are porous.

has one really good WR named Donte Moncrief who may move up to 1st round of 2014 draft.  He is a big WR at 6'3" and 220 lbs and runs about 4.4. Very explosive WR who will garner a ton of attention from defense. That leaves Treadwill who will start at Z WR position to make an impact if he lives up to the hype.

This is from earlier but I was just wondering if anyone caught the end of 5 good minutes with Brady Hoke on PTI today. At the end as they were cuttin gto commercial it sounded like Tony asked Jason Whitlock (who played at Ball St.) who would win a fight between himself, Jason and Coach Hoke. Whitlock said Brady would because he Jason, himself loves Brady too much to ever fight him. Just an interesting short story I thought.

You had to have said something pretty forboden to get that treatment.  Saying you think Ohio is a better team than Michigan "against the mods saying the opposite" wouldn't get you in trouble.  Your honesty must have been stepping over the grey area and splash landing in the "Do Not Talk About" land.

I could be wrong, but North Carolina was almost helping Brandon Wilds out there - it was almost as if they were assisting in pushing the pile closer to their own end zone.

Obviously this years designated 'hype for the Heisman' player is D.Clowney.On the plus side I like seeing a Def. player get some Heisman attention but it means even more replays of 'the hit" and I hate seeing ESPN having so much influence on  the Heisman Trophy. (Apologies for already speaking of Heisman)
