I know I watched him and Michigan that year, but I can only assume I've mentally blocked those memories of dong punches.

Good luck Threet.  Hope you can be 2-0 against the Badgers.

UM couldn't get anything going in the first half; UW moved the ball consistently, but bogged down in the red zone and only led 19-0 at the half. In the second half Michigan finally put together a couple drives, with Monir doing most of the damage, got a pick-six by Thompson and Threet capped it off with a fifty-eight yd run to get into the red zone. Another UM TD, then late drama as UM holds on 27-25.

I don't remember who the announcers for that game were, but one of them had a great line going into halftime: "To call Michigan's offense inept would be an insult to inept offenses everywhere." Just made the victory that much sweeter, especially watching it at my Badger friend's house. Probably the only bright spot in a long season of ineptitude.

Even after a win, the UFRs were painful then:

In past years we've had a metric where you add up all the good (CA+DO), add up all the bad (everything else other than PR), and take out all the screens to come up with a Competence Ratio. Threet's competence ratio in this game is 48%, which is below the 50-50 Mallett line and well short of the 2/3rds ratio that is a normal good quarterback...

Our receivers and tight ends suck at blocking. Oh my God watching Mike Massey is frustrating. If he was on the field for every play my veiny fan rage at him would be approaching levels last seen when his brother was gamely attempting to set a Guinness world record for tallest defensive tackle...

Our dodgy offensive line and general suckosity of offense causes teams to jump the routes with near-impunity.

What does it mean for Illinois?

Illinois has gotten shredded by the real teams they've gone up against but our offense has proven itself at least partially fictional.

That game was awesome! Well, the second half was. My friends all wanted to leave after halftime, but remember, those who stay will be champions. We stayed. The Big House was ROCKING during that comeback!! JOHNNY THOMPSON!!!!!? STEVEN THREET????!!!!!! Seriously?! It was ridiculous.

That season was totally brutal, but the second half of that game will always be a fond memory.

Since when is Wisconsin allowed to play BCS teams OOC?  I thought they had a rule or something.

Steve Threet is a good story, but I don't want Wisconsin to lose.  I want them to be ranked as high as possible when they some to Ann Arbor.  I'm also sick of hearing Pac 10 people out here tell me how much better the Pac 10 is than the Big Ten (even though it's far from true at this point).  I want the Pac 10 to lose all of their OOC games.

Those 2009 Adidas uniforms were yuck.  The numbers were small, like the old ND uniforms used to look.

I wonder how McGuffie would have done with this year's O-line.

I keep hearing that "Threet" and "Sheridan" were our quarterbacks.  Having been there to see it for myself, I think that "Smoke" and "Mirrors" were our quarterbacks.

Wisconsin 2008 was a wonderful game, and I was happy to be there, but it is eerie watching those clips and hearing things like "Threet! It's Threet!" and "McGuffie is in for the touchdown!" We really have had a lot of transfers. Haha best of luck to him against Wiscy!

I go to Wisky for med school. And none of my classmates who were undergrads (a good majority) have forgotten the 2008 game. That was the first thing most people mentioned when I mentioned my team was the Maize and Blue.

Last year's game (which I was present for) was a bit of a catharsis for them. Revenge even.
