Three weeks from now...

... We'll all be waking up to the first college football Saturday of the season! I can't freaking wait...

Curious to know some of your favorite routines, traditions and/or habits on most of your Saturdays in the Fall... Other than the obvious one of attending or watching Michigan football games.

Personally, it's up early for a workout and then a big breakfast with a pot of coffee, maybe a trip to the local farmers market for some fresh ingredients for sorting I'll make to eat during the game, maybe a hearty soup or stew. Some good beer during the game, a large screen and I'm all set. I really love fall time...

The day revolves around when Michigan plays.  I make sure to get all my stuff done around the house either before or after the game.  My wife hates me from September unitl after New Years.

All I can say about the looming prospect of another season of football Saturdays is "finally". Even better (not normally, but for football I will forgive him), my son is not a huge believer in sleeping in and is usually waking me up at 7 AM insisting that the Internet is slow, never mind the eight instances of YouTube that he already has open on his tablet. That way, I am about a pot of coffee or so into the day by the time coverage starts.

I came back for a September game last year. I woke up at about 730am and stepped out on the porch. It was a perfectly sunny crisp 55 degrees. I was still just in shorts and a bearer I slept in. Saturday mornings has an energy in AA that is palpable. I poured a shit of whiskey in my coffee, breathed deep, and thought "this is my heaven".

I have 4 girls under the age of 10. If I get any college football before 8 pm Saturday, it's a bonus. The days that I do have set aside as "must see" games, the day starts with coffee on the porch swing enjoying the cooler weather. Then, I shower and put on a Michigan shirt and get as much football as possible until the game. After the game I eat (only after or I will be sick) and then once the kids are in bed I fill my head with all things football. I refuse to watch NFL so my football season is awesome but short.

This is another reason I don't like noon games.  Most kid activities occur around that time.  Good luck setting time aside to watch a noon game.

By the time you get to 3:30 however they are usually winding up and you can actually sit and watch the game and not just sneak a peak at scores.

At my house in AA my roommate's parents will come with food. We drink beer, stuff our faces with great food, and toss the football. Sometimes we'll bring out the TV to watch Gameday and whatever games are on. Then when Michigan is starting soon, we roll out!

and yes, that even takes precedence over a michigan game.  however,  whatever time there is not in conflict with the sons' games is spent with the entire family watching the michigan game.   will watch some of the interesting later games, the 7-9 pm starts after the days' stuff is done.  which further reminds me, i need to get our TV hooked up in a couple of weeks.

Wake up, get my run in (occasionally run a local road race), get the playlist cued up, fire up the grill, listen to pre game, and wait to hear "Band Take The Field."

I'm sure this has been brought up before, but are there any sites that stream the radio coverage of the game? I always wanted to listen to Beckman call the game, but only remember being able to pull it off once. I would love to be able to listen to the pre-game show, but Toledo doesn't pull any that I'm aware of.

Can you sync it with the TV broadcast?

I have become less and less tolerant of the TV announcers that seem to show up on Michigan games.  They are either boring, incompetent, or they come in with an preconceived angle that by damn they are going to throw in your face . . . regardless of what is actually happening on the field.

I usually can't wait for that first Saturday in the year, but the Thursday game is throwing a kink in the things this year.

What is everyone's plans for the Utah game?  Are you taking work off that day/the next day?  Doing normal tailgate-type activities?  It just doesn't feel right to me.  Being in central time, I'll need to leave work at a decent time, grab some beer, and make it to the couch in time for the game.  It just doesn't feel the same as the whole Saturday morning worth of prep.

Can't complain though, it's still Michigan football!

As a current student, I'm at every home game and one or two away games each year (this year Maryland and Penn State).

I'm always up before 9 and I usually tailgate for a few hours for probably 4 out of 7 games each year just by hitting up some house parties (although I make sure that I'll always be 100% sober before gametime), but my core group of friends and I are always in the stadium about an hour early. The Marching Band Pregame is my favorite part of the day.  Also, we usually stop at whichever is less crowded of the Packard/Hill Jimmy John's or the State/Packard Subway on the way down to fuel up for the game.

My post home game routine is more steady than my pregame one. I'll go home, shower, then plop myself at our living room desk in front of the TV for the rest of the afternoon/night. I have my computer open to search game updates/Twitter/this blog/press conferences, the TV on low volume/alternating channels, and textbooks/notes open to study during slow times/commercials.

Only a young person would find that an impressive feat!

Get past 40 it'll be the norm til you learn to control your intake...you have to learn you shouldn't jump off or over stuff anymore, you don't wanna challenge people to footraces when you can't stretch first, and you can't drink like you're still in college.

Worse yet, for some (some!) sex is as big a challenge as all those other youthful activities. A guy set his medical chart on top my wife's the other day at the Dr... when I picked it up I mistakenly thought SHE was taking both Viagra AND Cialus!!!

Brats boiled in beer with onions & garlic, topped with a mix of onions and red/yellow bell peppers cooked down until fully caramelized. Finish the brats by searing them on a grill or in a hot sautee pan before serving and serve on a well-buttered, toasted bun.

Nothing says gameday quite like it.

Oh, and more beer for drinking.

Usually consists of Gameday and for some reason I like to find clips of the Michigan drumline to listen to at some point in the morning. If my girlfriend is working, I then settle in for a whole day of football. If she is not, a trip to the farmer's market in the morning may be in the cards, along with my weekly explanation that we can do something she wants after/before the Michigan game as long as it doesn't interfere with another big game. She doesn't get the obsession.

My usual routine is to make a big pot of coffee, turn on College Game Day, get a little pumped up for the game, then go for a run while listening to the pregame. Then we usually have people over or we go to friends' and there's something good either on the grill or the smoker. In all the excitement about our Thursday game I'd forgotten there will be football on Saturday, too. This year I'll have just moved the MGoDaughter into her dorm and I guess I'll be flight planning to get home the following day. No better place to calculate weight and balance and plan fuel stops than Ashley's or Conor O'Neil's--with a full slate of college football providing the background. This season can't get here fast enough.

Fall Saturday's mean it's apple season which I love. I also would buy bagels at the Bagel Factory to get me going on game day as a student. So, it's off to a local bagel shop that I've coached a bit to approximate Bagel Factory bagels and then to the local farmers market for apples and cider. Gotta get me my honeycrisp. Games start at 11am here in Chicago, so after my last stop at Binny's for game day beer, I usually catch the last 30 minutes of Game Day. With Michigan having few big games in the spotlight the past few years, I really don't mind missing most of the pregame stuff. Maybe I'll go back to recording it and just watch the interesting segments this year. The wife accommodates at dinner time and we usually go eat at a place that has some games on. Fall Saturdays are the only time I set foot in a Buffalo Wild Wings. We have many good local restaurant options around. Of course, this is what I do for away games. We have season tickets, so home games are a completely different thing.

Well I like to go top shelf and get a 30 pack of Natty Light! Start watching usually whatever game is on until Michigan plays. Then after Michigan plays I like to get a good dinner. Then repeat watching college football!

I'm the self-appointed Saturday morning college football commentator for my Facebook friends. I post, along with a link to a Youtube video of the drumline (Sing Sang Sung from 2009 is my fave), the day's Big Ten games, as well as any other other notable games, along with my personal and always witty commentary. I try not to be biased. Then I clear the schedule for the Michigan game, get on the liveblog if there is one (or its proxy), grab a Diet Coke and settle in. If the game starts going awry, I head into the other room and just watch via the liveblog/proxy.

Moved to Texas a couple years ago and just put in an outdoor kitchen and living room with TVs to complement my pool. I plan to watch games while grilling breakfast, lunch and dinner and swimming and lounging. Every Saturday in my mind. In reality I'll be at the soccer fields for my 3 kids most days while dvring the Michigan game.

Wake up on west coast, set dvr, run kids to events all day, make them dinner, get them to bed, then watch whatever i can. usually watch late Saturday games live then go back and watch whatever i recorded. unfortunately i usually know the Michigan score because someone somewhere during the day will say something because all of my friends know i love Michigan but somehow can't remember that i always take the game. that routine had turned Saturdays into one big day of stress.

Sometimes people will just exclaim how great the game was without saying who won. That's somehow worse! I DVR'd the Burke - Kansas bball game and got this treatment. For the first 80% of the game I'm wondering what the hell she was talking about.

The whole family dress in their gameday jerseys. Then Farmers Market to grab some corn for the grill later and maybe some fresh fruit, I grab a gameday coffee and then Beer on the way home, If its an away game my ass is firmly attached to the couch unless im grilling in which case my TV turns toward our deck, Home Games its all about the tailgate and the Beer. Cant wait for Sep 12.
