hey, its the author of the abc6 article!
I'VE HAD JUST ABOUT ENOUGH OF YOU SONNY
hey, its the author of the abc6 article!
or was it an alleged rape? There are plenty of places to go read about these things. I don't especially care to see them posted until they are a bit farther down the path toward guilt.
Can I have my stapeler back... They said..... I could listen my radio...at a reasonable volume
Tempting as it may be, let's not use this as an excuse to berate OSU. Whether or not its true, when it comes to sexual assault, there's nothing funny about it.
I'll get down from my soap box now.
Its unfortunate, and hopefully doesn't involve players. If it does, the fanbase will not support the players in question anyway.
story stated 3 freshman on the football team
Reported in November. Search warrant in March. Is that kind of delay typical?
i would say its a little long but one thing is usually sure is that if it has taken this long they have their facts straight and a soild case. the town i live in has had a investagtion going on since nov. on a firemen stealing money from the union and a charity and it just now came out.
Definitely weird that it was reported in November and no warrant till now. If in November, it could've been during the season.
I didn't see the story before it was pulled. Was the warrant just served now, or was it just unsealed now?
Whatever is the outcome, I just hope Ohio does not pull a Notre Dame and properly investigates this incident.
If they were in fact innocent, I hope they are acquitted or the charges are dropped. If they were guilty, I hope they are convicted.
But....but....but.....what about the Circle of Trust??? Someone has some 'splaining to do....
Plenty of speculation on 11 Warriors as to who the 3 players are. I'm not listing them, you'll have to click through. http://www.elevenwarriors.com/2013/03/20458/report-three-ohio-state-foot...
the most amazing comment on 11W is that someone said the media blew up the tat5 case because TP's mom bought him a car at fair market price. lol wut??
I gotta give props when I see it. The overall tone of the comments on that thread is entirely too reasonable and sane. What in the world is going on???
Best one I saw: "Urbz doesn't fuck around with this shit!" Dude, Urban Meyer is hated throughout football because of how much he looks the other way... Buckeyes only believe what they wanna believe...
oh so Florida the state is the problem? How many players from Ohio has been arrested over the last 10 years compared to Ann Arbor? Dont act like the culture in Columbus is better than Floridas.
I played in Gainesville, Columbus, and Ann Arbor. I also trained for a summer in Bradenton. I did not encounter a single distraction in any of those places that isn't more available in Ann Arbor. I would argue that there are more distractions in Evanston/Chicago and Ann Arbor than there are in Gainesville or Columbus.
/my two cents
OSU arrests under Meyer:
Brionte Dunn, Dominick Clark, Jack Mewhort, Jake Stoneburner, Storm Klein.
Michigan arrests under Hoke:
Fitz Toussaint, Frank Clark, Will Campbell, Josh Furman, Marvin Robinson, Darryl Stonum.
Hoke has 10 more months on the job and 1 more arrest.
Stones. Glass house.
Just go away. Your bias is showing.
Storm Klein beat up his baby-momma and was allowed to play 5 weeks later. That is DISGUSTING.
Meyer kicked two defensive backs off the team last year for a lot less than this.
this seems like a strange thread to upvote
Did they rape the kicker who wanted water?
keeping it classy, i see
Lol like Ohio would keep it class if the tables were reversed.
That boils down to: "We should act like Ohio fans." That might be the single stupidest thing ever written on the Internet.
I agree with you and I think the board is turning to rcmb with a language filter
ProcheGoBlue, we're supposed to be above this sort of tasteless humor, especially in a thread of this nature.
Points return in a month.
Whatever man. My Bolivian vacation will be fine. At least it's almost spring.
No, not "whatever man." This is a loud hint not to be an asshole. Take it and learn from it.
I thought that posting anonymously on the Internet meant you could state whatever you came to your mind. Whether it be a lame joke or a relevant point, and everything in between. I think people are to overly sensitive and I believe we live in a reactionary world instead of a proactive one. Too many in hindsights and not enough go out and do.
And immediately spitting your reaction out. Proactive is thinking before you do something and saying 'this is stupid maybe I shouldn't do it."
Condoning the actions taken by this person or persons. And I feel for the victim of this crime. As I have seen sexual assault destroy an army unit I was assigned to, and maybe for that reason I have become a little desensitized to it. But you either know right from wrong before getting oneself into such a situation. And apparently these young men lack that mental capacity. So whatever punishment or comments thrown at the person or persons involved sans the victim are deserved. So while I will not apologize for my off-handed remark. I will apologize for offending anyone. Again I apologize for offending anyone reading this forum.
Apologizing for offending someone is the lamest non-apology apology. "I wasn't wrong, but if you're too dumb to get my brilliant point and got offended then I'm sorry you lack my quick wit".
While it may be a lame apology to you I rally wasn't trying to offend anyone. But thank you for taking the time out if your day to set me straight. Have a fantastic day.
With athletes and sexual aggression, Does the extra testosterone that makes one a great athlete make one more likely to commit an act of sexual violence? Or maybe the "look the other way" culture of athletics? At any rate, as much as this topic has popped up (namely at MSU, OSU, ND and even here). Someone should probably take some pro-active steps to counsel these guys when they step on campus.
All athletes had mandatory sexual assault education that was pretty comprehensive. I would be surprised if the rest of the BIG didnt have it.
Athletes are probably presented with more opportunities to have consensual relations, and probably find themselves in dubious situations more frequently as well. They also spend a lot of time in a particularly male-centric subculture. Finally, when one of them does commit a crime, it's more likely to be widely reported.
Not sure we should blame it all on testosterone levels though. I seem to recall some study that said athletes actually commit crimes at the same or lower rates as equivalent non athletes.
Womp Womp Womp
So if only one actually did it, but the other two stood by watching you would think only the one deserved to be put off the team? I would have to say the other two should be gone two if that is the case. I can say this honestly...If I ever walked in a caught someone assaulting a girl (friend or not) I would kick their ass.
I should also say that if that is what happened (they caught him and ended the assault and are witnesses in that capacity) then I take back what I wrote in the first paragraph, but I would think if that were the case this would have all progressed much faster with two eye witnesses who stopped a sexual assault.
"Witness" doesn't necessarily mean physically present for the alleged crime. Someone mentioned that one of the players may have relevant cell phone records, and that's what they're after.
This is why speculation is bad. "OSU player may have material information related to an alleged crime" turns into "Buckeyes stand by while woman gets raped".
If all three are indeed freshmen.. This falls directly on urban no? His character radar (save for jesus tebow) has been a bit off his entire career so is anyone really surprised there are issues like this with his first class of recruits?
A pretty extensive Google search on Hoke and player arrest records and all I could find was fitz Toussaint and Darrell stonnum dui offenses, and frank Clark, ffor stolen property. Nothing from ball state or sdsu showed up. Sothis "if not more than Meyer" sounds like a defence statement unless you have a link. Not trying to be a Richard about it, I just couldn't find squat.
The three players I named. I know the article claims 8 but who are the other 5 and what did they do. Your extensive search brought up I what found. Again not trying to be a jerk, but as posted by another mgoblogger Clark is the only one who Hoke has recruited as well. I'm sure Meyer will do the right thing and I'm not attacking his character, but I don't think Hoke has more arrested players than Meyer. Maybe that's because he hasn't been in the limelight as long as meyer, but for now there seems to be hardly any evidence to your claim.
Actually, your facts are wrong. Pittman had an offer but tried to commit and was turned away. Dodson had an offer but I don't remember him ever being heavily recruited by Hoke. It's entirely possible that Hoke offered based on talent and then eased up for character reasons. Not saying that's what happened, I don't know - just saying Hoke didn't heavily recruit either player.
As for arrest records, I think you're better off looking at players brought in by the coach. Hoke has had 2 1/2 classes now (1 1/2 that have been on camps) and only Frank Clark has been arrested from the group he brought in. Meyer has had 1 1/2 (only one set that has been on campus) and already 2 of the players he brought in are tied up in these horrific allegations. Urban has a history with low character kids and this seems to perpetuate that.
