Three and Out on the Kindle?
Does anyone know whether "Three and Out" features photos, diagrams, or anything else that would make having a hard copy more valuable than the Kindle edition? I plan to preorder this on the Kindle, but will go hardcover if there is content that I'll miss out on in the electronic format. Thanks for any insights.

I think the kindle will be just fine. I was going to start a thread on this so I'll just hijack yours. How big of a clusterbleep is this board going to be when the book comes out and how do you plan on handling it?
So some people will get advanced copies and start posting stuff before the majority even get the book.
Are you going to read the book and ignore the board for a few days?
Are you going to read the book as fast as humanly possible so you can be one of the 1st posters about the book?
Are you going to read 1 chapter and then start several threads about that chapter?
Are you not going to read the book, but comment like you have by piecing together quotes people post from the book?
I think Brian needs a META post to figure a way to take keep this orderly. I say the mods will be busy taking down thread after thread that week.

The book is available this Thursday in Chicago during a visit from Bacon. I assume he will visit other cities as well. This is just going to add to the confusion and length of this conversation.

the john bacon event is tomorrow evening from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm at Jack's bar and grill at 2826 N southport (lakeview). this is a chicago alumni association event not a book publisher event. John will make some initial comments, have Q&A, and then sign books.
i think the suggestion of call letters for this topic is a good idea- maybe JUB (john u bacon) or JB.

Totally agree. Personally, I'm just not going to click on those links until I've read the book, since I figure Brian will wait until the book is released before posting an official take, at which point we can all comment. But it is an open board, and while consolidating them would be great, my guess is that we'll have a bunch of dups and just have to wade through them.

Perhaps some identifier like OT and CC during the coaching change...something like 3&O.
I think you are correct, this board is going to blow up as soon as the first books are released, especially if it's released early in major cities on his book tour, but definitely on October 26th the next day.

Ziff, your idea might have merit. As to my original question, why do you think the Kindle version will be fine? I think it will be, too, but I wonder if anyone actually knows if there will be a difference (photos, diagrams, etc.).

I have the kindle order in my queue, and from past experience I haven't seen a drop in quality or lack of pictures except that they are not in color. So my guess is that all of the images and charts will be included, but might have some slight loss in quality because of the medium.

bronx, certainly there will be a loss of quality if there are pictures. I guess I'm just wondering (and have done a poor idea of asking) whether this book includes pictures and diagrams that are worth having in hard copy? I'd bet not, but hs anyone seen a copy to know?

If you were to buy the Kindle version, if you get annoyed at the lack of color just use the Kindle Cloud Reader app on Chrome, that is usually full color. Just as good as reading it on an iPad. And besides, the new Kindle Fire is coming in November so you'd be able to transfer it to that device!

Depends on your faction.
If there's any chance you might be throwing the book across the room (example: is your last name Carr?) you might not want it on your Kindle, unless you have a super padded cover for the thing.

From a review I read, the first five chapters are all set up to the Rodriguez hiring. While I am interested in that (especially Bill Martin's role), I am most interested in finding out what made the Rodriguez era so unsuccessful. Because of that I plan to start reading at chapter 6, while finding out out about the first few chapters from the board and then going back to read them after I have read chapters 6 through whatever.
I am fairly familiar with Mr. Bacon's work and he has always seemed like a unbiased, thorough and talented writer/reporter, so I have very high hopes for the light this book will shed on the most confusing and tumultous era of Michigan football since I have been a fan.
However, having said that, I am very concerned that this book will open old wounds and create infighting as well as be a distraction to the current team. I am not looking forward to Brady Hoke and the current players having to answer questions about this book. I really wish this book was coming out after the season.

Ha I totally read the title of this thread as if it was suggesting the Kindle was the third, failed version [of a good idea, or something similar]. I bought my girlfriend one and she absolutely loves it- 3G wtihout a contact is awesome.
On that note and mildly OT-ish from this thread, does anybody have an mgoblog kindle edition subscription? I'm thinking of getting one myself to read my daily websites, the top of which would be MgoBlog, so whether the kindle version is quality is a key factor. Any feedback is appreciated!
