Come on...you know you want to.

I'll start: Glen Steele likes Brady Hoke more than you do-

"Coach Hoke has a defensive mind-set, he's a defensive guy, and he loves to coach — he loves what he's doing and being around the guys," said Glen Steele, a defensive end on Carr's 1997 national championship team, which had Hoke as its defensive line coach.
"I'm a huge supporter of Coach Hoke. When you're looking for someone to come in and address where this team is and where it could be, I don't think there's any better guy."

"It's hard to characterize him because he's such an overall good guy," Steele said. "But he knows when to kick it up, and he also knows when to say to a player: 'Hey, we've got to re-focus and get this done.'
"With coaches, there's always a point where screaming and yelling and getting guys fired up is important, and then there's the time when you say: 'Hey, we're all in this together and we've gotta pick it up.' With a coach like him, you don't have to throw fuel on the fire. Players wantto play for him."

(From the dreaded Henning article that Brian linked from the DetNews)

Don't feel you have to talk about Hoke. Open CC/Brandon/everything ever other thread is.

Anyone subjecting themselves to the GoDaddy.com Bowl with (nt)Miami and MTS?

DB's comments about big money make me think there's a dark horse out there with a lot of collegiate success. Just looking down the list and one name that I haven't heard mentioned as an outside chance is Stoops.

Seems crazy...

Stuck in Ohio 2

or bust. Here's my thought process for those who care enough to read...

Hoke...Fits the Michigan man persona. Say what you want about his first few years at Ball State but he's proven he can flip a team and win with it. Has established some but not excellent (aka USC like) west coast ties. Fits the role of an up and coming coach. Overlooked by the majority of fans (Bo anyone?)

Miles...Fits the Michigan man persona. Competes year in and year out in what is hands down the best conference for the title. Won a NC (and look who it was against), Has established strong southern ties. And most of all, is just ****ing crazy enough to win with a down and out team like Michigan.

Both of these guys are great candidates. Jim would have fit right in with them but he's done and gone now. Anyone who thinks these guys would be a poor hire are either way too optimistic (or pesimistic?) or just read and agree with whatever Brian posts on the front page..

Fuck Les Miles. You can read on the first page why. Also I formed that opinion all on my own. My reason for not wanting Hoke is..... who is he? Prior to a month ago I had not even heard his name. So I am guessing neither have many recruits. So thanks but no thanks. Keep up the original thinking though.

Like RRod, this guy has won before, but fans of his team are growing restless and are starting to talk about a new coach. We should grab him while we can, and let him lead us for the next 10 years.

Joe Paterno, come on down!

This seemed so simple to me after the Ohio State game.  Try and get JH right away.  If he wouldn't bite, endorse RR for another year and move forward with recruiting.  DB should go back to delivering pizzas.  He  messed this up more than I knew was even possible.

so easy to put all the thoughts here.  So JH what is your next move? 5.2 mill lets just say, for 10 years at UM.  Or dare to try your hand at Denver? SF said you can come coach for 4.5 mill per year.

Good thing I had to work this whole week or I would have gone on a huge bender. Some of DB's comments make me think he has something up his sleeve but I just don't know. I want to have faith but it seems like DB is poised to screw this whole thing up worse then Bill Martin. It took ND 15 years after Holtz left to find a coach that will in all likelihood succeed. Will someone please wake me up in 12 years? Thanks.
