Thoughts and Prayers for Devon Walker
Not to be a downer today, but as a Tulane alum, I wanted to ask everyone to keep Devon Walker in your thoughts; and if you're the praying sort, please do so. The Senior Safety suffered a head-to-head collision and stopped breathing on the field. EMTs performed CPR and he was transported to the hospital, apparently in stable condition, but no further news has been forthcoming. He's a good kid majoring in cell and molecular biology. It's a tragic reminder of how dangerous this game can be. Again, thoughts and prayers for Devon. Here's hoping he can recover.

Stable condition is hopeful. Positive thoughts.

Us Michigan fans know how bad spinal injuries can be after Brock Mealler, so let's pray it's not that. I hope all is well with him.

Speaking of Michigan neck injuries, has anyone heard a Zia Combs update in the past couple of years?

Man, I hate to read this. Prayers for him and his family.

Thoughts and prayers to him, his family, and the Tulane team right now

My prayers are with him, his family, and team.

Update I read:
Broke his neck, and had to be resuscitated on the field, after he stopped breathing. Terrible. Bless him.

Apparently Walker has broken his 1 or 2 vertebrae, which is why he couldn't or had trouble breathing on his own. Which also had the effect of his lung collapsing. It's great to hear he's in stable condition, but walker will probably never walk, use his hand or breath on his own again. I hope I'm wrong but it's almost 1 in 1000000000 chances. Thoughts with him and his family.

Really, really, really hope you're wrong. They said pretty much the same thing about Taliaferro's injury, and he's walking today, so there's hope.
I hope his teammate is getting support, too. I can't even imagine how awful it must be to know that you almost paralyzed a teammate.

With most neck injuries, you're paralyzed form where the injury happens down. Meaning, like I said... He might be in bad shape. It's so, so sad to think about. Let's hope it's not the case.

That's not true at all. It completely depends on the injury.

Horrifying stuff.
Thoughts and prayers for him, his family, and his teammates.

I spent 7 years in the Marine Corps and seeing that makes me wanna cry. It's terrible that something like that happens to a kid with his whole life ahead of him.

Scary stuff. I wish this young man all the best.

That was scary.

As a coach you never want to see this happen to one of your players, or an opposing player. That's one of the reasons we always tell our players to respect their opponents. We are all brothers in the game we all love. Thoughts and prayers.

Wishing him rest and recovery. Miracles can happen - just ask Elliott Mealer.

The play looks so routine, it's scary. Thoughts for him and his family.

and nothing life threatening has come of this. So scary and my thoughts are with him.

My prayers and thoughts for Tulane's #92 also. He did nothing but play hard to the ball but he'll feel the guilt of making "the hit" the caused the damage. Huge burden to bear even though he did nothing at all wrong. Horrible feeling, I'm sure.

I don't know how I feel about God but I know there is good in this world and I know I have a disproportional share of it, and I hope and I pray that he will be okay.
