Those Who Stayed: Marlin Jackson

Submitted by Kaminski16 on

In Vol. II of our offseason interview series, I got to talk with Marlin Jackson about his foundation, his recruiting process, his opinion on the direction of Michigan Football, and much, much more. I think you'll enjoy it: LINK here.

Also, check out his Fight For Life organziation as well as the Go Blue Bowl (a charity flag football tournament on 4.4.14 at AA Pioneer).

If you missed the first interview in the series, with Ryan Van Bergen, you can find that HERE.

Please follow us at White Hot Sports for more of our work.

Enjoy!

finest players to wear the winged helmet and he really has become one of the finest ambassadors for UM.  He is candid about the program's problems but optimistic about the people to solve the issues.

Great interview.

Not only for what he was as a Wolverine, but what he did as a Colt. That INT of his to win the AFC championship game still brings a smile to my face. Heck, I remember being excited to see his being drafted by the Colts.

That's the difference between him and our currnet stock of DBs as he mentioned.  But, I can think of a guy of pretty similar dimensions coming in.  I really liked Marlin's honest criticism of the coaching staff, lack of in-game adjustments, and the fact that maybe they weren't motivating the players and the players weren't bought in totally last year.  But, in the same breath he also talked about how he thinks Hoke, Mattision, and co are the right guys for the job and he desperately wants to see him succeed and expects a step forward this year....good stuff.  I miss seeing Marlin.  I haven't heard much news about him in quite some time, but he was a gifted athelte and one of those in a long string of great DBs UM had for a while.  I really hope they get back to having those great DBs and WRs that we saw throught the 90s and 00s.

From everything I have seen, Marlin Jackson is one of those players that really did integrate the academic and athletic experience he had at Michigan well and turn it into a successful life in general, part of that being his NFL career and then his organization. He said as much in the interview, but it is great to hear how players find the entire Michigan experience useful in their lives after Michigan.

Great interview. Thanks for sharing!

I really like the depth of the articles you have had thus far & it is great to hear from names we know well yet haven't heard much about in a while.  Keep 'em coming!
