Well, Hoke said he wanted Gordon to step up and be a leader. So he did a leadership thing by forcing a young guy into the lineup. I like his style. It is sink or swim time.

and he manages to get himself suspended instead.

I doubt the rules are hard to understand or hard to follow, but he had other priorities.

...is augmented by the fact that Thomas hasn't exactly been Troy Polamalu so far in his Michigan career.  If a younger player steps up, Thomas may be Wally Pipped right out of a shot at the NFL.

I'm really surprised to see this from Gordon. I've met the kid a few times and am FB friends with him, and he seems like a straight-shooter from what I've seen. Then again, missing curfew isn't the worst crime in the world.

I'm very glad that Hoke disciplines star players, even at the risk of losing important bowl games, because I want to win the right way, but I'm extremely bummed that our key starters are hurting the team by making bad decisions.

Like to know the backstory, but I'm guessing we'll never hear it.  Ah well, at least it's against a team that shouldn't test the secondary that much.

... If we announce a one game suspension we assume it's for curfew. If OSU does it we assume someone has been murdered. Bunch of homers... Which is fine. Its a Michigan blog. Just cracks me up.

To be fair, one of those programs was recently hit with violations stemming from players trading jerseys for tattoos, with a head coach who had a history of drug offenses at his last stop, and a reputation for being pretty lax in rule enforcement.  The other is a school that suspended their starting DB for the last game of his career because he smoked weed and, likely, cost themselves a win against a top-10 team as a result.

UM athletes have their share of issues and I totally accept the hypocrisy inherent in this place, but one school has failed to earn the expect minor rules violations as the cause of suspensions.

Maybe I'm overreacting but this news makes me nervous. I was concerned about safety play opposite Gordon already and this just adds to my fear factor that we could be in for a frustrating day back there. Call it first game jitters on my part but I thought Gordon would play a role today in keeping CMU's RB Tipton in check.
