Things you want to see from Football 2011

Submitted by Blazefire on

What are some things you most want to see from the 2011 football season?

First and foremost, I'm hoping Coach Hoke does a lot of pointing while on the sidelines as soon as possible. The pictures we have of him;

From the old days:

From SDSU:

And in a shirt and tie at the press conference:

are just not cutting it. We need some pictures of him in sideline gear pointing at Denard going "No, you da man!"

He was driving a huge black Suburban, turning south onto State St. from South U. at about 4:30. It was just a brief glimpse, but from what I could see there was no pointage happening. Very disappointing.

http://www.fieldgulls.com/2008/6/2/544329/football-explained-left-de  Hoke mentioned the three technique DT as the spot Will looks good for. This is a pretty good discussion about it.  It sounds like a spot where a guy can really unleash and disrupt because of the singular responsibility.

I just keep thinking we're gonna see a player in Campbell before it's over.

and fewer that we give up.

And a running game that extends beyond Denard.

And forcing our opponents to punt.

And then not fumbling the punt.

and Roundtree not dropping critical third-down throws.

And stopping a fourth-and-short run up the middle.

and never, ever again putting a kickoff out of bounds.

and an occasional field goal would be nice.

I don't think you'll see Denard doing that.  The closest we'll see is a repeat of him striking the pose mid-play ala ND 2010.  When he scores he drops to a knee, says a prayer, and hands the ball to the official.  I think he is WAY to humble to ever pull out a Desmond.

I just want our program back!  I want the players to be tougher!  I want the players to be bigger!  Also, please put at least nine DL on the line of scrimmage.  It's the ONLY way we'll ever stop Wisconsin!

Really, I'd settle for a season with everyone (fans and whatnot) "all in" and a reduction in coaching staff politics and drama.  I have modest hopes for a good season with Hoke driving.  So far, so good, it seems ...

I'd be happy with competitive against everyone and a win over a single team that finishes the season ranked. That would be a huge improvement. Letting up fewer than 300 points (23 ppg) would be nice too. I'm sick of bad school records.
