They installed railings in part of the lower bowl already?

I knew they were planning on doing this at some point, but I didn't think any would be installed this offseason.

Seems like it'll make the aisles a little crowded.

Maybe it's just me; but are the aisles wider in the places that the handrails have been put in?

They did pretty much completely tear up those sections of seats over the summer.  I think the aisles may be wider already.

I've seen on more than one occasion an older fan lose his footing in an aisle and fall into a fan sitting on the end seat. Railings would prevent a lot of those tumbles. I agree that it seems like it would constrict things a bit, though.

at the Purdue game. I was given a pair of pretty sweet tickets, or I wouldn't have been in that section to begin with. This fellow was 84 years old. He was there with his grandson, whose children will be sixth generation Wolverines. It took him a few minutes to make his way to his seat. I doubt he stood and cheered much, but it was easy to see he cherished the fact that he was there. Somehow, I don't see the mental picture of him tripping or falling to be funny.

They were going to widen some of the aisles and install the hand rail's before the 2010 season, then during the offseason following 2010 they will install them in the rest of the stadium bowl

I would bet that more than a few drunk 20-yr olds have done the same thing over the years, with the extra added benefit of puking as they fall.

I've always wondered how I've never seen anyone fall and roll to the bottom.   Some have come close, but nobody has made it to the bottom.

I went to a game up at MSU a few years ago, and sat in the upper deck. Being used to the very shallow rake of the Big House, I couldn't believe how steep the upper deck was in EL. I really did feel like if I lost my footing I would go all the way down and over the edge.

about 1 seat width worth of steel was cut out to make the aisles on the east side wider.

The seats should be renumbered.  Even though my seat numbers are the same, I will probably be a seat or two over from where I have been.

Sometimes it's so crowded, the person on the aisle seat ends up standing partly in the aisle..the railings are going to force everyone to squeeze in even more...hopefully, the widened the seats in the sections they widened the aisles and added the railings..

My balance isn't all that great, and I've never felt comfortable walking the stairs in the stadium.  It's worked fine when I've been with somebody -- I can use their shoulder for support -- but when I've been on my own, I've had to grab a stranger's shoulder more than once to prevent a fall.  (Fortunately, the strangers have always been good-natured about it.)  This improvement is LONG overdue.

I'm betting that eventually I'll be one of those unsteady old farts ready to pitch headlong onto some poor unsuspecting fan who spills his Coke all over himself and drops his hot dog mustard side down. I just hope it's a Buckeye.

The railings are required under the Americans with Disabilities Act.  I'm guessing that they had to put them in this year because of the "reconstruction" of those areas this offseason.

So, I Stubhub'd some tickets in Section 44.  I was supposed to get seats 4-5 but instead was sent 24-25 or something.  Which are closer to the 50 yard line?  I want to send them back for the proper seats, but not if 24-25 is actually better...
