They are eating their young on Eleven Warriors right now.

Looking at this board it looks more like a scUM board than Buckeye. Mods should consolidate all these scUM threads. I know its a big deal but 3100 threads on it is a bit much.
Let me be the first to say... fuck harbaugh.
I can already hear the Michigan fart sniffers and their holier than thou schtick with the Urban recruits thugs garbage. I can't wait to shut these bozos up in their own place in 2015. A real nice welcome L for Jimmy Harbs. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I don't want _ichigan to be good. I want them to suck forever, because I'm having way too much fun watching their incompetance. If they lost every game from here to eternity, I would be in heaven. I hate them with a passion. And that's all I have to say about that.

There are however, some members over there, that seem genuinely happy about the hire.

Yes but the smugness UM took a century to earn msu appropriated in about 5 years.

It's like a classic movie where one brother has been overlooked and taken for granted for so long he starts out sympathetic, but ends up fouling everything up trying to get some recognition.

Call sparty Fredo. And while we're on the movie theme, osu is Biff. ..he's gonna get his soon - it's coming "Back from the Future"

"Little Brother mentality?"  That's what a 68-34-5 record against a team will do.  Sparty has earned short-term bragging rights, but they have a long way to go before then can think they are as good of a program as Michigan.

They hate Michigan anyway; the "little brother" comment is something they have gotten way too much mileage out of.  They have now become temporarily good enough to get Michgan to pay as much attention to the rivalry as they do.

Be careful what you ask for...

To have incompetence in the HC position.  They stumbled their way through the '11 season with Luke Fickell.  Say what you will about his interim basis; it's true.  But I'm making the point more that twice now his name has been connected with the Pitt search and twice now it hasn't even come CLOSE to happening.

I made the point repeatedly that when ND needed a coach they got Kelly, OSU needed a coach and got Urban, Michigan needed a coach and got, um, Brady Hoke.  Michigan needed (or I guess it's still needs) to get this hire right, and it seems they have.

From the looks of it right now, Urban Meyer has the advantage.  He's been there for three years and has an abundance of QBs it seems.  Harbaugh (assuming as to not anger the football gods) will be coming in new without much (it seems right now) at the sport's most important position.

But it's nice to know that my favorite college football team will no longer be at a disadvantage to its rivals because of its coaching situation.

Exactly..not to mention, the original post is quite the overexaggeration as pointed out by the post itself. At the bottom, see the small line about how lots of members over there are happy about the hire and what that will mean to the rivalry and B1G...but sure find the few posts that support your title and put those in big blocks.

How about the focus now in on recruiting news and news on potential assistant coaches instead of acting like a troll?

Their collective spin (from the less rational ones) to show how Jimmy isn't really a very good coach and they have nothing to fear: -He never won the PAC-12 conference -He never won a Super Bowl -He won't stay beyond 3-4 years, never has -He only won at Stanford because of Andrew Luck -He only won at SF because of a stacked roster that was ready to go -He will piss everyone off and get run off quickly -He is barely over .500 as an FBS coach -He has never even won an NCAA football title -He is going to coach Oakland next season anyway, doesn't matter -He is going to coach the Jets next season anyway, doesn't matter Yep, this mountain of evidence, which takes EVERYTHNG into account, clearly shows how much he sucks.

OSU is not going anywhere under Meyer and we have some catching up to do.  If both staffs stay in place for 6-8 years this should be a wonderful era.  Anyone over there thinking Harbaugh will be average (as both RCMB and some 11Warriors have pointed to Harbaugh's "mediocre" college record in FBS) or anyone over here thinking Meyer suddenly will become an  idiot is just plain silly.  Or that either team will "lose all their recruits" to the other just has a shade of glasses on.  Both have recruited well for decades under various regimes and will continue to.  As will Notre Dame.

What discerns great coaching from below great when you are in a program that gets top recruits constantly is finding the right fits with those recruits and then the ongoing development..... the latter has been a sad situation of late for us.  That changes.

They have a head start with a cadre of QBs ready to run Urban's very effective offense and a coach already established in that location with his own recruits now filtering thru the system.  We still played them close even with some very average coaching the past few years.  So 2015 at home will be no different.

As long as we find a QB by the 2016 game I expect that one to be a barn burner reminding us older guys of how "The Game" used to be, and I hope we start seeing some 2006 like matchups again.  The talent pulls now will be very equal, and the coaching very equal.

As for fans - whatever.  We said lots of shit about Urban too when he was hired.  Truth is these are 2 of the top 5 coaches in the country by any measure for the NCAA.  Both win big and win early everywhere.  I already see the crap about "Harbaugh doesnt the win the big one" and "Harbaugh doesnt win his own conference (NCAA)"  which will be retorted from our side by "oh yeah NFC Championship > than any NCAA conference".   Lots of nonsense on both sides - again 2 of the best coaches going at the same time, at similar ages, both alpha males, with similar hunger drives.  This is going to mirror Auburn - Alabama and what TN - UF used to be 10 years ago.

Game on.

We need to get beyond the 2006 variety. If you want comparisons, try the 70s variety when it was always competitive save perhaps in 76 when we shut them out. I never felt that we were likely to win in 2006 and that team could not hang at all with USC. I do not like those references.

That's a little bit of revisionist history on 2006.

We could have easily won against OSU.  It was going to be our ball for the game winning drive until the Crable hit.  They could not stop us in the second half.

We were hanging with USC just fine - 3-3 at the half - until they adjusted and went to the air while we kept trying to beat our heads against the wall on the ground.  Our "not being able to hang with them" was self-inflicted.

But I'm not really looking for Urban to suddenly become an idiot, I just want Harbaugh to run him out of the B1G like Saban ran him out of the SEC. That's all. That's all I want. One other thing that excites me about this Harbaugh hire was his success against Oregon once he got his Stanford program on its feet. His success against spread teams has me stoked.

and I feel like I can look forward to The Game knowing that Michigan won't get out coached.  Jim has had two very successive runs at Stanford and SF and he's got a lot of experience that I wish Hoke had when he took over 4 yrs ago.

NFL guys just won't give up. Schefty tweeted that deal not done as being reported. Umm Ya Adam he's still under contract with 9ers. As of Monday that won't be case.

Sparty slappies in my social media feeds are just as bad, if not worse. My favorite contradictions:

- Michigan fans are getting everything we deserve from Dantonio, because allegedly some of us "mocked" the hire of a guy who at that time was one game above .500 at fucking Cincinnati. Now excuse me while I go mock the hire of a guy who coached in the Super Bowl

- Harbaugh "can't win the big one" because he lost the Super Bowl, you know, that game that even the best coach/QB tandem of the 21st Century haven't won in a decade. Meanwhile their team is playing in the Cotton Bowl instead of the Playoff precisely because of twin bed-shittings against the only two good teams they played

- when Hoke was here and turning in consensus top ten recruiting classes, it didn't matter because he can't develop players like Dantonio. Now that Michigan has a coach who has demonstrated that ability, it still doesn't matter because those players actually aren't talented. The real problem is that the recruiting services who scouted them and the Urban Meyers and Nick Sabans who offered them were just wrong. Other teams in the apparently unique situation of losing players to graduation and the NFL will simply reload, while Michigan losing four players from their entire two-deep is an impending personnel catastrophe

- Harbaugh's just not good, you guys. Did you know he went 4-8 in his first year at Stanford? Yeah, you know, Stanford, the place where they went 1-11 the year before he arrived, and where the previous most recent winning season was the first year of the George W Bush Administration. He couldn't turn that around in one year? Please. Plus he's had a favorable set of circumstances waiting for him everywhere he's gone, like non-scholarship programs and total dumpster fires

I've never seen people so sure of something needing to give themselves so many reassurances. The difference I sense is that Ohio State's had sustained success against Michigan during a semi-recent period when Michigan was actually good, so they're still confident. Dantonio has only ever beaten crappy Michigan, so "Sparty Nation" is understandably more nervous and kind of bitchy.

That being said tl/dr /s...

Seriously though, you nailed it. The Sparty's are very nervous, the Buckeyes are uncertain of their future in the rivalry.

The thing that I'm most excited to see is how Coach Harbaugh develops the talent that Hoke brought in, that will tell the story of what kind of coach Jim Harbaugh is, and will legitimize Brady Hoke's recruiting legacy.

Assuming Jim comes (and it seems virtually certain he will), I think Michigan will dominate the series once they find/develop a good QB.  Physical, ass-kicking defense can stop the spread.  I expect that will built in the span of a year or two.  And OSU has been mediocre defensively under Meyer.

You mean other fans are as ridiculous as some fans are here?

Truthfully, I've never seen the reason to be interested in what "other teams' fans" are saying on message boards. I can quite honestly say that I've never been to any other team's message board except for when Google brings me to some recruiting info on Buckeye Planet or something. I visit 11 Warriors occasionally when links are posted to good articles. Same thing with The O-Zone.

A lot of us - including me - have a hard time getting past the morons on our own boards, so why would I want to go seek out more of them with opposing fan allegiances?

Well, some of us don't need to go to their boards. It's right in front of us thanks to the realities of family and work.

I do get it, to a degree - there are some Michigan fans running around right now acting like this hire amounts to career death sentences for Urban Meyer and Mark Dantonio, and that just isn't reality. But it's every bit as detached from reality to try to parse Harbaugh's record, in which the upward trend at every stop is unmistakable, to invent justifications for your crackpot theories explaining how the guy's actually just not a good coach. Jim Harbaugh is an excellent coach, he is going to have success at Michigan. It doesn't mean he's going to suck all the air out of the room. If the SEC West has room for Saban, Miles, Sumlin, and Malzahn, the B1G East has room for a similar group. Michigan landed a home run hire, guys, accept that and show some confidence in your own guy instead of making fools of yourselves trying to minimize it!
