Admittedly, I did have that reaction with the very first one he posted, until I read it. I think it's a cool feature and putting the number or even the name in the headline would completely defeat the purpose of the threads.
I was thinking about when I posted it. But it is pretty cool. I haven't seen it if he made a post like this before, but I wouldn't be disappointed to see it continue.
He's been counting down sporadically since about Will Campbell. Judging by the url of the thread, it's at least the 7th thread in the series.
I'm expecting a combo picture of Braylon and AC. Maybe throw Terrell in there.

I'd rather see the countdown stick to current players for the upcoming season. Stop at Vincent Smith (or JT Turner) and coast into the season.
There will be plenty of MGo board activity on Uconn-eve. -- Wolver-eve? Wolvereen?

I have loved the series, but I haven't really noticed--are you using current players exclusively? I think it's great that you feature guys like Kovacs and Woolfolk, but when it gets down to 10, 7, and 1, I think Brady, Henne and (take your pick) would be great, especially since those numbers are not really big name guys on the current teams (Gardner, I know, but he's not likely to even play this season).
EDIT: I don't mean to tell you how to do your posts in anyway. Upon re-reading my post it occured to me it was a little presumptuous. Apologies, you're doing a great job.

Well, for 21 and 2, you definitely have to give the Heisman shout out, but Vincent Smith should also be acknowledged (depending on Countdown to Kickoff performance of course)

My 10 year old saw your "There are..." post with Kovaks and has decided to start his own on his bedroom wall. I walked in on him checking out the rosters on the XBox 360 so he could plan out the next several weeks.

okay the latest on this... Topher tells me this morning, "dad since there isn't a number 1 this year I will just have to make that my number." He is quite aware of the significance of the 1 (otherwise I wouldn't be a good father right?) and has said on several occasions that he plans on wearing it when he puts on his winged helmet.
Needless to say I will be working up a nice photoshop version of our own "There is" for that special day in september.

Fuck the wake up, there is NO way I am going to be able to fall asleep the night of Sept. 3rd.
