The dude was a fade master.

I remember when Bo first put him in against ND in 1989 when Taylor got hurt.  He almost single-handedly brought us back to win in the Rocket Ismail game.

We all kept thinking "Who is this guy?"  He was the most un-Bo QB we ever saw.

Yes! Our friends at Stubbs put out a recipe for Swineapple last year. A pineapple stuffed with pulled pork and wrapped in bacon and then smoked if I recall correctly. This is certainly the game for it.

I am currently watching 1995 UVA versus UM. Watching these classic games really helps the time go faster.

I'll always remember that comeback. One of my earlier memories of Michigan football. On our way home from my grandma's and had it on the radio. I'm pretty sure I was hooked before that, but this game sure made my love for the program even stronger. Mercury Hayes will always have a place in my heart as well. Just got goosebumps rewatching it.

I remember how hot it was and thinking that VA had an advantage just because they weren't wearing dark jerseys.  I felt sorry for all the players in pads.

The celebration at the end was epic though.

At halftime, I bought a Michigan T-shirt with the winged helmet in a bad-ass profile position.  It's still my game-day shirt when I'm watching on TV.

Someone rather beat you to the punch with the thread concept this morning with "How Many Are There?", of course, but because 21 and Desmond Howard highlights inhabiting this thread, we will allow the ever so slight redundancy.

I think this another one of those moments that happen only on this board, but then it is one of the things that makes it a neatly unpredictable place.

to witness both of those incredible moments in person. The OSU punt return might be more famous because of the pose, but the catch vs ND was, for most of us, even bigger. Michigan had lost 4 straight crushing games to ND, and that catch was slinging the damn monkey off our backs and kicking it. Delicious

How many weeks are left until game day? Is there anybody in the roster of note that might have that jersey number? And might that person have a vine or gif that is totally appropriate for this thread? I'm on my phone--otherwise I'd search and post myself.....

it can only be Tripp Welborne, who played for Bo and Mo from '87-'90.  Welborne, widely considered to be one of Michigans best-ever defensive backs,  played mostly at  the strong safety position.

Welborne's career was derailed towards the end of his senior season when he suffered a devestating knee injury on that awful turf at the Metrodome vs the Gophers.   Though he went through reconstructive surgery and extensive rehab, Tripp's knee was never the same and ended after just 2 games played for the Minnesota Vikings.

What might have been...

lwrs also take a moment to recognize #21 Tsimunga Biakabutuka (that's from memory, how'd I do?) great player from Canada (parents from Zaire IIRC). of course we all remember 313 vs osu, but thus guy was very fast and shifty for his size. there was a huge gap after Tyrone Wheatley graduated, but "Touchdown Tim" came in and had a remarkable career.

These guys made some huge plays honoring Desmond's 21. Hemmingway's ability to fight for deep balls and win sugar bowl MVP's. Roundtree's ability to come up with huge catches late in games to ensure victory. And Gallon's unique ability to destroy Notre Dame, and wear invisibility cloaks in route to the best single season of receiving yards in Michigan history!

These gentlemen both exemplify why we hated and loved the Legends patch era. No doubt these three deserved to wear the number. But it sucks that Gallon's 10 won't live in our memories, or Roundtree didn't finished his career wearing #12.
