I've been kind of curious who the OP who starts this thread on Saturday will go with since you can have your pick from five all-Americans when you get to 77, or indeed a host of others if you so desire. Actually, the entirety of the 70s - at least by jersey number - is probably some of the richest territory yet for these posts.

I agree 77 is quite the number at Michigan. In my own countdown on other social media sites when I have multiple players with accolades I usually put a picture of each of them and list it similar to how Ira does the countdown on wtka, x number of days players name, players name, players name,etc... until Michigan football returns. They can also list the Wistert Bros 11 for the Saturdays.

Jeff Backus was definitely the most well-known contributor to wear 79 in recent years. Next was probably Adam Stenavich, who was a solid but not world-beating left tackle and is probably best characterized as "the guy before Jake Long." Perry Dorrestein rocked the 79 jersey for 5 years, but had an unremarkable career. Lately, 79 has been going to no-name OL and DL. Sometimes the jersey isn't issued to anyone. Last year, some guy named Dan Berube be wore it.

Clay Miller was also 79. Clay may not be known for on-field accolades (although he was part of a fantastic OL with Matk Hammerstein, Mike Husar, John Vitale, and Jumbo Elliott). No, Clay's greatest accomplishment was in the classroom and in the business world. Following his graduation from Michigan, he attended Northwestern School of Law (J.D.) and then earned an MBA from Harvard. He's now a Partner with Stone Arch Capital in Minneapolis. Doesn't get much more impressive than that.

I work at a school. Today is my first day off. In 79 days I'll be 2 days away from the first day of school.

These 79 days don't have to necessarily fly by!

This sports desert is unbearable.

I'm not a big baseball fan (although I'm not above jumping on the Cubs bandwagon) so I am about to enter the dreaded summer sports desert.

I guess for at least one more day, I still have the NBA Finals.

Maybe I should go outside and do my own sporting activities?

Ugh, summer used to be my favorite season. Now it's the least favorite by several country miles.

Unless you're an avid baseball/golf/tennis fan, and I'd rather watch paint dry than watch any of those sports, summers are just barren wastelands for sports. Nothing to get excited about save for the occasional commitment, and then some fall camp highlights when August rolls around.

It's going to be a long haul to Labor Day weekend, my friends.

I feel ya regarding summer sports. I like golf and will watch most tournaments (assuming one of my guys is playing). I also like tennis, but watch only the majors. I absolutely cannot stand baseball. Outside of those, you're right. There is nothing else to watch. Come late July, that is when I start to watch old games on YouTube.
