Thanks M basketball for a great season

Submitted by StoneRoses on

Thank you guys for a wonderful season. Lots of great memories. It's a shame that we're not going farther, but all in all, it's hard to look at this season as anything less than a success.

Hoping we can get as many of our guys to return, that way we can have more great seasons to come.

That team outperformed everyones expectations. You could not have asked for more from these guys and these coaches. Truly one of the most remarkable seasons of any Michigan team....

Maximum effort, Michigan Basketball. Thank you for a fantastic season. You were expected to be a rebuilding team, yet you reached deep down and gave us your hearts. Thank you, indeed.

Awesome season.  The Elite 8 is what I figured come the post season and anything else would have been icing.  B10 Champs, solid throughout the year, I can't complain considering they weren't "supposed" to be this good.

Hopefully a couple of the guys come back next year for another run.  (Looking at you GRob and Mitch).

How many here thought in January that an in-your-face three from the opposing team was all that would keep Michigan from playing OT for the Final Four?

Damn...Great shot by Hairston.

If Kentucky doesn't go 7/11 from 3 this is a different game. Both teams played great. Hard to believe, looking at the rebounding, the fact that Kentucky made as many threes as we did, and just their outreagous talent level in general, that we were right in that game all the way and could have easily won it. Great game, great team, great season. Cheers.

This team grew up so, so much from the beginning of the season until the end. If anybody is angry about this ending, they don't know how to set expectations.

Only regret is that JMo couldn't should his stuff in the Final Four.

I'm not pissed at our team or anything but Calipari and his fucking allstar team of players piss me off... and the fact that we were this close is frustrating as well.

I'm not pissed or angry at all with anything to do with Michigan basketball... but goddammit if that basket only could have rimmed out....

I guess I see a difference between painful disappointment and anger.  I feel the former, not the latter.

I would feel angry if we'd gotten jobbed by a bad call, or a dirty play, etc.  Kid on the other team hit a high-dificulty shot for the game?

I tip my hat and move on.

Took a very well-played game by an extremely talented team to end our season.  Sad we couldn't get more minutes out of J-Mo especially when Jon was struggling so hard in the first half.  Foul management is my one criticism of JB's coaching.  Thank you boys, I have appreciated this wonderful season.

The bitterness will fade. But the memories I'll tell me kids about, will remain. Truly proud.

Thanks guys.
Damn, no matter what, I'm a Michigan man. Go freakin blue!

Having lost 3 starters from last year's NCAA runner-up team, they won our 1st outright B10 title of the 3-pt-line era, beat three top 10 teams in 8 days, swept MSU in the regular season, had the B10 POY, and lost a thriller to a good team in the Elite 8.

Nothing but kudos for our guys.  Kudos by the truckload.

that game felt a lot like the Louisville game last year.  Bittersweet end to a great season.  Sure a few plays or calls could have gone the other way, but in the end we just got beat.

Definitely wasn't ready for this to be over with. Appreciate the team and coaches for taking me on this ride with them. Just wasn't meant to be today.

B1G champions by 3 games, Elite 8 and just nipped by a last-second jumper in an instant classic. Just not enough size & depth to deal with Kentucky's jr NBA team. Great effort, smart, highly skilled, well coached and 100% sportsmanship. Outstanding group of guys who gave us a thrilling season. Go Blue.

Kidding aside, KY has talent that Michigan has a hard time attracting and yet played damn well against some very skilled players. Had Michigan been more consistent in shooting, this is a win. But hats off to KY. They earned their paychecks tonight!

Young and the Harrison twins have plenty of skill on the perimeter, and Julius Randle has plenty of skill inside. Besides that yes they are a little wild but also insanely atheletic, large, and deep. And this was without their top defensive player. They are freaking loaded, and we were THIS CLOSE to beating them..

Congrats to this team. You all really showed me something this year. You could have retreated earlier on the season but you fought every game and just had a fantastic year. It's sad that this season has ended but you've all accomplished so much. Kudos to you all. Go Blue.

Couldn't be more proud of the boys though. Loved seeing them play their asses off all season, whereas last year (before the tourney really) there were many times when they didn't looked like they cared much. Didnt see that this year, balls to the walls all year!

They provided a Incredible season that nobody expected aand exceeded my wildest expectations..When they were 6-4 I was just hoping they would get INTO the tournament. Then they did a complete 360 won the BIG Title by 3 games and stormed into the Elite 8. To lose it this way was heartbreaking..

On a side note I despise Kentucky , Calapari and there one and done team and philosophy..I think its terrible for College basketball and is runing the game. NOW, this will only perpetuate them to having one and dones every single season because its worked....ON WISCONSIN

Preseason #7
Everyone says overrated

Start 6-4 and go 0-3 in quality non con games

Go on to win the big ten by 3 games and finish the season #7

Then make the elite 8 and be a bounce from the final four

High standards lived up to. Realistic standards surpassed. Could get used to that.

Go Blue

My hands down favorite player of all time. I hope he stays, but I know he's gone, he's ready for the league. It was an absolute honor to watch this kid play basketball. Thank you for everything Nik.

I'm still really bummed about this game (and the coulda woulda shoulda, ref-related and otherwise), but wow was this team a ton of fun. Sure, the D was more GERG than Greg, but the offense was fun to watch and the team played extremely well as a team. I will miss Nik and Jordan, and I hope there are no other departures but next team should be lots of fun too.

Fair enough, and there are bad calls both ways every game, but at the same time the missed basket interference and the Caris 3 (to my eye) that was called a 2 make the difference between going into that last possession up three (hypothetically) and tied (reality). Still, though, that's mostly me coping with a tough loss to a coach I strongly dislike.

can't take anything away from either team.  everyone played out of their minds. back and forth back and forth the game was decided by an inch -  go blue and hail to the victors even in defeat.

They had a great season and brought a lot of happiness to this blog and Michigan fans everywhere.

There is a lot to look forward to in the future regardless of what happens with the draft.

Walton and Irvin taking the regular freshman to sophomore leap, Donnal maybe doing the same (as a RS fresh) along with Levert and horford + chapman and if they get 1 out of stauskas Robinson and Mcgary to come back they will still be a very good team

especially Morgan and the coach.  Class all the way.  No whining, no excuses in the media, no sideline temper tantrums.  Just class.  The future is bright.
