Great idea scheduling a national powerhouse for primetime while your program is rebuilding!

Is better than you, and he knows it.
Lou Holtzis better than you.
Everytime You talk I will bring up this.. Please leave
Thanks Dave, dickhead.
If two of our five most important players are effin injured tomorrow.
Lewan, Moore and Countess?
This game was scheduled before Dave Brandon took the helm. Can't pin this on him
I don't think that's true.
It is true.
Is January before October? And was that still true 2 years ago?
RAGE! MISPLACED ANGER AAAAAARGH!
This isn't Dave's fault. This is the football team's fault. Things clearly didn't go well and we simply failed to do...well..anything. Playing difficult competition is good. But, that was bad. I look forward to the improvement that this team makes throughout the year. I have a lot of faith in this team and this coaching staff.
my faith is GREATLY shaken in Al Borges. Sorry, but that game plan was brutal. Similar to the couple pf debacles from last year where we went all I-Form.
My pizza had a pewb on the pepperoni. I want my 10.99 back.
Michigan is recognized as having the best unis in college football. Why F' with your brand?
Obviously the unis didn't affect the game, but I don't understand why he'd mess with brand recognition
The same reason every other school has 5000 uniforms now. To sell more jerseys.
However we are 1-2 in special jersey games ... so maybe they are affecting things :)
2-2. Wins: ND & VT. Losses: MSU & Bama
I agree. We should have worn the normal home jerseys. BUT, it didn't help or help the game at all. Jerseys are jerseys, man. The team's performance is what should have bothered you!!
You'll be wearing a lot of normal home jerseys when you're...
Hey. Better idea: Step away from MGoblog.
Post of the night in my book. We never make good decisions when we are upset
Do you disagree? Do it in 2-3 years, fine. This kind of a loss can hurt your brand and recruiting, not to mention the injuries. It was a stupid idea.
The injuries are DB's fault? That makes no sense. It is random - a player is just as likely to get injured against baby seal U as Alabama. They are part of the game.
I understand that it's the hip thing to do to come on the board and try to be the mature voice of reason after a loss. More power to you. But you're delusional if you think Delaware State's 185-pound linebackers are as likely to hurt a player as Alabama's flying manchildren.
Did anyone even really touch Denard when he hurt himself stretching for a first down? Did anyone even touch Countess when he injured himself trying to tackle the punt returner?
He got clipped/pushed while he was the gunner as he was squaring up. So yes, I doubt that happens vs Western or Rice or whatever patsie we should have been playing.
When other teams are playing nobodies, you should play nobodies too.
Are you saying Rice/Western's players are too little to clip/push people in the back? It's not like he got hit by some mass of humanity that only plays at the Bamas/USCs/LSUs of the world. A high school kid could have caused the same injury. It was a fluke.
IIRC he got wrecked pretty good
Playing nobodys is totally damned if you do damned if you don't. We get upset when we play someone that is not good because of a variety of reasons, including the fact that it doesnt prepare us for MSU, Ohio, Bowl games. Now we get upset when we schedule a top matchup because we were beat by the best team in the country and defending national champs?
What is your proposal than? Play MAC schools and beat our chests while we are beating them by 4 touchdowns? Come on man. We scored more points than LSU did in both games against Alabama. We scored about a much as an SEC team did against Alabama. We were not the better team and we showed fight.
Do you really believe the injuries in the game are why we got embarassed?
ohhhh you baby
Whoever did this sucks.
I can't understand why devin brandon would put devin hoke in a situation like this. Fire all the devins!!
its dave's world. we just livin in it
Everyone bitches about playing cupcakes. We took a shot at the champs and got beat up. So it goes. I'll take this over $135 for a snoozer against EMU. Don't be a baby.
You would? Why? What is to gain from scheduling great teams? If you run the table in the Big Ten, you're probably going to get a shot at the title game regardless of who you play at the beginning of the year.
Playing on national tv, getting hammered, having your starting QB get dinged and your starting LT and corner on crutches is a good thing!!!
It's interesting to watch. This isn't a national championship team.
IIRC, this game was scheduled back when RR was struggling, but still considered a top shelf coach, who would be starting his 5th year and would have seniors that were HIS guys and a competitive, if not dominant team. They didn't draw this shit up last tuesday.
Whyy? So we can lose by three touchdowns the last game of the season instead of the first? I would hope that this experience helps the team realize where they are at, what they need to improve, and move in that direction. If you are a legitimate title contender it might make sense to shirk away from playing the best in your non-conference schedule, but I think its obvious that we aren't there yet. So how does the loss really hurt us? You really though this team was going 12-0? Even after tonight you think they have a decent shot at running the table?
Well, if you win, then there's a lot to gain. Can you imagine the insanity on the board if we would have won? Talk about a season and career-defining win for the Michigan football program. Recruiting, media hype, and all kinds of hooplah. Yes, it sucks we lost. And it's difficult to see any benefits of this game after such a rough defeat, but there are some major potential rewards for scheduling games like these.
I want to play this type of high competition every year. I don't want to be Wisconsin; the Rose Bowl isn't good enough. We, as fans, should want national championships. With this schedule, we challenged ourselves and tested our abilities. So what-we failed. Next time, we won't. National championships matter-Rose Bowls are second place
now we know how far we have to go to be an elite team. I hope this loss sticks in Hoke's mind for a long time
Weren't you all in favor of scheduling great teams instead of cupcakes anyways ???
For another great topic, who's everybody voting for in November???
