Thank you Jim Hackett

Submitted by amaizenblue402 on

We all need to be reminded again on Gameday why we are so excited for this season.  Without this man, there would be no Jim Harbaugh at Michigan.  The anticipation for this season is unlike any other.  I'm so damn happy that we don't have Brady Hoke on the sidelines.  Thank you Jim Hackett for bringing Harbaugh home!

This is a new era for Michigan Football!  It starts tonight!

Today is like Christmas.  If M should happen to lose, which I do not think will happen, it would be similar to my childhood Christmas when the Lost in Space Robot did not appear under the tree but there other satisfactory gifts to make it a successful Christmas.  Harbaugh on the sidelines is a success, a win would be the best ever!

I am always excited for Michigan football but this year there is a different feeling. The excitement has reached a while new level. Thank you Mr. Hackett!

I cannot imagine the meltdown that is going to take place here if we get smoked.  I am not saying it is going to happen, and am not trolling at all. Just a thought experiment.   This morning we are thanking Jim Hackett.  Say we get beat 40-7 tonight.  There would be a level of confused, inebriated animalistic rage on these pages that would be unrivaled except for possibly the Horror.

I don't think that's true. If we get smoked, it won't be laid at the feet of Hackett.....and only slightly at the feet of Harbaugh.

In either scenario, I don't see us getting smoked tonight. Too much competence on our sideline for that to happen.

not saying it would be at the feet of Hackett, I was just thinking about what would happen to this huge pregame love affair with everything in the event that something completely unforeseen took place tonight.  Now that I think about it, if we did get taken to the shed I could see it actually being taken somewhat comically by the Board.  It would seem like a really cruel prank.

Tonight, when I and my cronies sit down at our local cigar bar with our stogies and bourbon, watching Michigan kickoff, we will be sure to toast the man who gave us our passion back.

Thank you Jim Hackett, cheers to you.

know if it is all that harsh.  Last year the level of incompetence shown by the coaching staff almost reached a level where it was an afront to the program.  He also personally became very detached and dismissive.  I think you could call the split mutual but I don't know if you could go as far as to call it amicable.

I'm as grateful as anyone but let's stay off Hoke going forward.  Bashing him isn't going to do any good.  Plus I think he brought in some talent that's going to start showing itself tonight.

in many seasons, perhaps going back to 2006, Lloyd Carr's last hurrah campaign with Bo still watching, I am confident about the status and future of Michigan football going forward without worry about channeling a national championship future. Under Harbaugh that will happen, too. Thanks to Mr. Hackett who divined the happening, and then made it happen. All you had to do was believe, and WE DID.

I have to admit, it's still going to be a little surreal to see Jim on the sidelines tonight. It still really hasn't sunk in. I might have to turn on the Khaki cam just to constantly remind myself that he's actually here.

Hey, maybe we'll see some actual halftime adjustments tonight?

Also, thank you Schlissel. He could just as easily have not put enough effort into replacing Dave Brandon because sports aren't his first priority (nor should they be). Failures at the university President level landed us Dave Brandon, but Schlissel made the right hire in Hackett.

I feel like I felt at the eve of the Hoke era...excited and hopeful to once again have winning football on Saturday er, Thursday in this case.

The difference in 2015 from 2011...no hope needed.  We will.  Harbaugh.

To put the DB era into perspective, we all love Hackett for simply asking for the opinions of players, fans and alumni and simply asking Jim Harbaugh if he would like to be the coach and telling him that he's the guy. How simple is that? And Brandon couldn't do it.

One small thing in the beginning of the Hackett era here that really struck me was that opinion surveys were being distributed regarding just about anything, open forums were happening, fireside chats were happening....suddenly, the place seemed open to the people that it served again. It was huge and an import shift away from the previous administration.
