Thank you Brady Hoke

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

Thank you Brady Hoke for devoting 4 years of your life to Michigan Football as a head coach in addition to your 8 as an assistant from 1995-2002.

Thank you for contributing 31 wins to Michigan's all-time total.

Thank you for loving Michigan and giving your best effort. Whoever the next coach is will have a great amount of talent to work with.

We all wished things worked out.

Good luck to you. Go Blue.

Thanks for the recruiting, I guess?  He not only recruited well, but retained.  There's still a good chance that those fantastic 2012 and 2013 classes, along with a handful of elite skill guys from '14 and '15, could make some big time noise next year and in 2016.  He's leaving behind a cupboard that is much more well stocked than his predecessors.

That's a development issue, which may or may not be fixed by a coaching change.

There are probably a lot of underachievers on the team for whom it is too late to salvage their careers, but there are also probably a lot of guys who are going to blossom very fast under the new coach ala Mike Martin, Ryan Van Bergen, and JT Floyd in 2011.  I wouldn't put it out of the realm of possibilty that at least one of the four scholarship QBs on next year's roster could be a competent game manager with the supporting cast that will be around them.

seemed like a stand up guy who really loved the school and program. It clearly did not work out, but it is still sad to see someone have their dream job taken away from them. Best of luck in the future Brady.

.... sorry that the product on the field did not embody the excellence which Michigan stands for.

I hope you have as much success in your next stop as our last coach has found...

... but I hope we have more success.

Great guy with an extraordinary devotion to the university.  Sad to see him go as he was a constant source of positive energy and moved the program in the right direction academically and in terms of recruiting talent.

Wish he had succeeded more on the field, and sad to see him go.

does anyone realize how lucky we are?? we got rid of a corporate AD and a bufoon coach in one swoop.  if hoke had won 1 or 2 more games we would have been set up for 10 years of mediocrity.  at least now there is hope!  nothing to thank hoke for, he was heavily compensated for a job he was clearly unqualified for.  he should be thanking the alumni and fans!!  we are so damn lucky to be free of this.

Are people taking the Deepak Chopra Gratitude Challenge or something?  How many posts do we need thanking Hoke?  I'm also guessing there's a high overlap between those now giving "sincere" thanks and those who would have had a meltdown if Hoke was retained.

Hoke wasn't doing this for charity.  It was his job... and he got paid more in four years than most of us will in our lifetime to do it.  Brady's ego is hurt, I'm sure.  But, he'll be fine.

No hard feelings, but let's chill with the "Thank You" threads.

He tried his best, but he just wasn't the guy for the job.

He got his dream job and lost it today. I can't imagine how sad he must feel.

Thank you Brady Hoke and I hope you are able to find peace.

Yup. I think this is absolutely deserved. Thanks, Coach. Even if not for quality football players, you helped foster an environment to develop quality young men.

Sad but necessary day.  In hindsight, he needed at least one more stop before head coaching a power program.  I wish it would have worked out for him here.

I wasn't happy to see RR go. I feel the same about Hoke. No question he's a great guy and coached his heart out. Part of being a successful leader is strength of will--something Hoke excelled at. Another part is adaptation. Something Hoke seems to have struggled with.

I wish it had worked out differently.

I also hope all the best for him and his family. They're part of the Michigan family and I'll root for him wherever he lands. I wouldn't be surprised to see him bounce back like RR. He--and the university--will hopefully learn much from this experience.

I really really wanted Hoke to succeed. He was the perfect type of guy for Michigan who did things the right way.

Unfortunately it was not meant to be. He's a great man, the tears from players faces confirms that much. Just not a good enough coach for this level. It makes me sad...I wish for once a guy like Hoke could have bucked the "nice guys finish last" stereotype. But it cannot be denied how mentally soft his teams were, and it looks like a result of his mentality as leader. Great motivational guy, but just not good enough for this game at this level.

He was all of that.

Interesting if we all look back before this season:  the predictions universally concluded that the success of the season would depend mostly on (1) the development of the o-line and (2) the performance of the quarterback.

With perfect 20/20 hindsight........that was the season.  We could have won 10 or 11 games if those two areas performed better.

Wish you the best Brady.  It's never easy when it comes down to this.

who represent the University well on and off the field.

Thanks for making sure our football players continue to be students and take advantage of their Michigan education.

Good luck in your future endeavours.

for being a part of the rich mosaic that is Michigan football.  Some good, some bad, but you can say you gave 100%.  Godspeed and best of luck in whatever is next.
