A well-deserved appointment, not to mention a historical one.

It will be very interesting to see who tags along with Mr. Strong to Austin.

Also, what about GERG?

I'd expect Vance Bedford (former UM assistant) to replace the one and only Grecian Formula master.

Well, sometimes your program drank a bit too much and needs to sleep it off beforehand.  But once that program gets a solid couple hours, prepare for the bull to be unleashed!

It would seem to me that, if the quote about making something hard is indeed true, then Enzyte Bob ran a pretty "tough program" for years and years once the medication took effect. Either way, a pretty amusing way to start his career at Texas.

Isn't Charlie Strong the black Rich Rod?

Only difference is Charlie had a lot of success as both a DC at Florida and HC at Louisville, while Rich's major success was a HC gig at West Virginia.

Both have that 'genius' mind for coaching.  Both benefitted from 'academically questionable' kids that their schools (WVU, Louisville) were allowed to take.  Neither would be described as a 'good' politician.  Both tried to get Demar Dorsey on their football team, and at one point they both had him.

I just see Charlie Strong as headed into a bad situation at Texas, just like Rich had at Michigan.  You're talking about a school that has historically taken 95% of its kids from its home state being built around Florida kids.  Maybe if Charlie wins early he can pull it off, unlike Rich.  Also, if he has the full support of the school - that would be good for him.

I more-or-less had this thought earlier today.  As a corollary, isn't Mack Brown the (other) beige Lloyd Carr?

I admire both men greatly, but they both arguably stayed on a bit long while their programs deteriorated.  I understand the corollary breaks down on closer examination (Lloyd was much more institutionalized before becoming head coach, Mack was forced out while Lloyd pretty much left on his own volition, etc., etc.).  In fact, it's a pretty bad corollary.

But it's a funny one IMO, so I'm hitting "Save" and letting the people decide.
