"Is this the dagger in the coffin?"

I don't get it. Has he even said anything about wanting to attend OSU?!?

I think we've got a heck of a recruiting staff now, and if we can reel off a really good season this fall... no telling what could come.

Also, I still hold out hope that someday soon OSU will still get hit with the HAMMER for their fairly blatant player luxuries (Anyone want to borrow a dealer car?). That would scare a lot of recruits off.

Blaze.....normally i agree with you (especially when it comes to beer) but i'm afraid you're off base on the OSU cheating allegation.  Dealers EVERYWHERE write loans to kids who they think will be cashing in on a big paycheck soon.  They do it at the maximum interest rate allowable by law (rumor has it that Lebron had a 28% rate on his infamous Hummer purchase) so they can basically charge double what the car is worth by the time the loan matures or is paid off.

It's not unlike places that give loans against future lottery winnings or a deferred inheritance monies.  Football and basketball players have driven sweet rides for years under this deal.  When i was in school back in the late 70's several of our players had new cars that they could never afford as a student but as a future pro would have no problem paying for.

Tatoogate notwithstanding.....I don't think the end of OSU's run of football dominance is going to come via the NCAA rules committee.  We're going to have to do it ourselves.

When I was visiting a friend in Columbus back in 2001 the entire B-ball team had matching explorers.  I doubt all of them were destined to cash big paychecks.  I'm not saying it doesn't happen, I'm just saying some individuals might over look some missed payments as long as the kid is playing well.  Sometimes it takes a rollover accident to expose these types of things. (thanks Tractor Traylor.)

I'll say it again:

Richardson is the best midget corner to come out of Cass Tech (in recent years, anyway).  He's better than Cissoko, better than Mathis, better than Hollowell.

I hope Michigan can get him.

It's already better than Mathis' offer list.

Cissoko's offer list is a little murkier, because he committed so early in the process.  Rivals has him with offers from LSU, Tennessee, Illinois, Georgia, and Penn State.  So he might have been able to earn offers from more top schools, but who knows?

My God not every recruit we go after has OSU as their dream school. I can understand being pessimistic about recruits that are from Ohio, but if we're going to assume we're doomed when Cass Tech kids get an OSU offer then we'd might as well join the MAC.

Well, we beat out Ohio State for exactly zero recruits in this past recruiting class and only three in 2010, IIRC.  It's a somewhat daunting situation.

For comparison's sake, a quick scan through the past two Ohio State recruiting classes shows that OSU grabbed about 16 kids who had Michigan offers.

It's not the "dagger in the coffin" but recent history suggests it might be a problem.

"It's not the "dagger in the coffin" but recent history suggests it might be a problem"

Exactly my point, this was more of a question to the recruiting members.

Not the general "lynch mob mentality" that seems to think their group opinion should be shoved down everyones throat.
