owa City, Iowa -- Michigan coach Rich Rodriguez tried his best to paint a rosy picture after Saturday's 30-28 loss to Iowa. If you listened to Rodriguez address the media, all is well in the land of maize and blue. But it is not.

perhaps detnews's editor feared a backlash ala the freep and made him write a more positive article to neutralize his immediate negative reaction. Detnews may have had a significant increase in hits and/or subscriptions in the wake of the freep's vendetta against rich rod. just speculation.

If you ever listen to Terry Foster, or just about anyone on 97.1, you learn to not listen to anything they have to say. They are biased. Nearly the entire 97.1 crew are MSU fans and don't bother to hide it. They consistently disrespect the Wolverines and make fun of most callers that call in defending Blue. Take literally EVERYTHING that Terry Foster or any of his cohorts say with a grain of salt.

Foster was jostled and knocked to the ground as Iowa fans unexpectedly rushed the field, and was mildly concussed when he wrote the Sat. night column.

these days. Most like Foster will probably end up losing their jobs in the next 6 to 12 months. Subscription numbers are not going up. I hear what you're saying, but if we consider the fact that Foster and his ilk produce less and less meaningful content and they have no resources or cajones to do what you and I would call "investigative journalism" and pay for, well, we end up with garbage. I'm completely unsurprised when I open up an American newspaper today and then witness such sloth. And the other thing is, it's been this way for many years, probably well before Foster received his first paycheck.

He should be on the air right now with his Evil Monkey (Valenti), has anyone called in and asked him to explain this?

It could actually be a point -counterpoint that was butchered by running each separately online, such things have happened before.

97.1 (or at least the Valenti-Foster show) will not let you point out a contradiction or mistake by a host. I used to listen to them and called in last year. Valenti disagreed, told me I was nuts and he ended the call. Two weeks later I heard him make the same point I had made. I called in and told the screener. He said, "We don't let calls calling out Mike on the air. You have to send him an e-mail." I didn't waste my time with the e-mail. I rarely listen to them anymore. 1130's new line-up is somewhat better.

Maybe Foster knee-jerked the first column to beat a deadline, sorta like posts or emails you regret as soon as you hit the send button. That would explain the second column. Or maybe he just had more facts at his disposal for the second one.

I'm not going to put him in the Carty, Rosenberg, or Snyder catagory for one fairly short column questioning a "gut feeling." Yet.
