Ten Years Gone

For Bo...

Then as it was, then again it will be
And though the course may change sometimes
Rivers always reach the sea
Blind stars of fortune, each have several rays
On the wings of maybe, down in birds of prey
Kind of makes me feel sometimes, didn't have to grow
But as the eagle leaves the nest, it's got so far to go

Changes fill my time, baby, that's alright with me
In the midst I think of you, and how it used to be

Did you ever really need somebody
And really need 'em bad
Did you ever really want somebody
The best love you ever had
Do you ever remember me, baby
Did it feel so good
'Cause it was just the first time
And you knew you would

Through the eyes an' I sparkle
Senses growing keen
Taste your love along the way
See your feathers preen
Kind of makes makes me feel sometimes
Didn't have to grow
We are eagles of one nest
The nest is in our soul

Vixen in my dreams, with great surprise to me
Never thought I'd see your face
The way it used to be
Oh darlin', oh darlin'

I'm never gonna leave you
I never gonna leave
Holdin' on, ten years gone
Ten years gone, holdin' on, ten years gone
Ten years gone, holdin' on

I know WD made his post, but this is the musical tribute from the greatest band to the greatest ball coach.  Though a few of the sappy love lyrics may go too far, it's still a fitting jam.

I think he's saying that saying this:

"Did you ever really need somebody
And really need 'em bad
Did you ever really want somebody
The best love you ever had
Do you ever remember me, baby
Did it feel so good
'Cause it was just the first time
And you knew you would"

to Bo from you is perhaps not the exact message you were hoping to convey.

Obviously this past weekend had a lot of historical comparisons to 1985, a year when Bo was coaching Harbaugh, his quarterback.

That team lost to Iowa, then took their frustrations out on Indiana the next week to the tune of 42-15.

In the final week of the season Michigan defeated OSU 27-17. Michigan finished the regular season ranked #2 in the polls despite the 1 loss.

If history is truly flashing back to 1985 this fall, we are going to like the results the rest of the way.

Here's to Bo.

In 2003 my football team won the state championship. Shortly after Bo came to give a speech to our team. I was sick with mono and left out of school so didn't get to see him. Was pretty upset about it at the time but got over it. When he died almost exactly three years later, by that time in college, it hit me pretty hard. Flood of emotions that Bo died, that High School was over and lot of my friends gone, that I didn't get to experience that moment with a legend and my team. Life goes on. Go Blue.

My husband is a UM alum who graduated the same day as Harbaugh.  Being a good UM spouse I live through him for all things UM Football.  The day Bo died, he bought the best leather football he could find in Bo's honor and the next week took it with him when he and his buddies went down to the UM v. OSU game. Funny thing is nobody would touch that football as though it was something sacared.  They sitll won't.  He had to buy a different one to actually take to tailgates that people will use.  God bless Bo.
