Temporary moratorium on posting?

Submitted by bronxblue on

I know this is getting dangerously close to censorship, but does anyone think there should be a couple hours after a loss when users cannot post new stuff to MGoBoard or the Diaries, or at least they sit in a queue unless you are an approved poster? Just an idea, as some of these threads are just atrocious, and I'm worried this site will be overrun like some of the other places.

What I love about MGoBlog is that the posts generally are a cut above the usual fan sites, with real analysis and clear-headed discussions. At this point, though, it seems like negbanging and the "Fire RR! We Sux!" crowd is taking over. Just an idea.

Censorship is sort of a strong word for shutting down a private message board after a loss, but there's no requirement that people participate in message board discussions now or ever. Just back away for a while if it bothers you (like it does me). There's no need to participate in the absurd overreaction we've seen from some people here today. Just ignore them. Watch another game. Come back when things settle down. And, have some confidence that this will expose some trolls and d-bags who will soon face the banhammer.

I agree to an extent, but at the same time I want to be able to vent a bit without having trolls neg me down and call me an idiot for saying that Robinson should not be fired and that Dantonio does not in fact own RR. But yeah, I may be taking a break.

I like the initiative, but I don't think that's necessary. People need a release for their emotion after a game like this, so they come here where they know people are as worked up as they are. The key is to be angry without going full retard and saying we need to fire coaches or call their hiring into question.

But it's probably just as easy to just not read any posts made over the last couple of hours if you're worried about that sort of thing. This too will pass, as they say.

100% agreement. I would have said 1000%, but I hate it when people pull out the cliche "more than 100% effort". I'm tired of these trolls and dumb-ass 14-year-olds who think the first loss of the season means we will be 3-9 again this year. Or possibly 2-10.

We will lose our next 7 games to finish 4-8 and Michigan will fire RR and Lloyd Carr will come back and coach next years team to the National Championship because this is Michigan and we should always win everything! This was the worst play calling I've ever seen in the history of football and our coaches should be ashamed with themselves! And did you see how State's players wanted it more! I heard we even spent half the week preparing for our big game at Iowa! Our coaches suck!

How do you know this is a Michigan blog? The use of the word 'moratorium'. Well done sir haha

Also- I agree. A young team was outplayed... shocking. The future is bright, the past is past.

by the idea that we're so damn entitled to post our thoughts anywhere and everywhere that it's tantamount to censorship if any effort to keep idiots out is made.
