Team Captain predictions

Submitted by ballertim87 on

I got to thinkin about this for a little while during my run this afternoon: Who will be named the captains?

Coach Hoke said that the players will vote--whether that gives more or less variability to who we think would be the captains, who knows? But, to me, I doubt that there will be any surprises, here.

Lock: Mike Martin

No surprise: Denard (unless Hoke wants only seniors), Molk, Woolfolk,

Slight surprise: Kovacs, Koger, RVB

I can't see anyone outside of those 7 get the C. I'll predict Martin, Denard and Molk. It will be nice to have more than 1 captain who actually starts, unlike last year.

*I know that last year they had 2, but I generally remember M having 3. I'm curious as to which has been more of the norm?

My prediction: Denard, Kovaks, Martin.

Iirc, we usually go with 3 captians. Hoke did say the players will vote, so I doubt it will be only seniors.

I don't see Denard because Hoke has talked about how important the seniors are, so I see him limiting it this year to seniors. I'd say Molk, Martin, and Woolfolk or RVB. You could maybe consider Hemingway, Odoms, or Shaw as well since they've overcome adversity and stuck with it to their senior year.

I doubt Denard gets it. Based on the pressers it seems like Hoke wants the leaders on the team to be seniors even though the players are voting. I see Martin and Molk as locks, and the other one up for grabs.

Denard, Martin, and Woolfolk. The coaches have been discussing work ethic and leadership every chance they have had and these three keep coming up. The hoke message is effort and commitment and these three have been great examples of both. Since the players are the ones picking and buy into the philosophy it should, neigh I say it HAS to be these three....or maybe three completely different guys

I have no problem if there was a senior player who has spent most of his career on the bench get the captain. If this guy represents the hard work and dedication that it takes to be on the team. If the other players recognize this guy for his hard work even though he isn't a starter, he can still lead by example, in the weight room, in practice, in film break down, in a study hall. If the players voted for a person like this I would love it.

I think based on the BTN Media Days it is going to be Koger, Martin, and Robinson. Though IMO I think it should be Martin, Molk, and Van Bergen. We will see what the players vote soon.

Koger and Martin are the two I think will get it for sure. I wouldn't be surprised to see a special teamer get it as the third pick. The runner ups would probably be Denard, Molk, T-Wolf, and RVB

These are locks, Hoke has been gushing about what a great person and teammate Koger is and with him being a senior this is a no brainer. The other two are obvious!

I don't see how there is any way Molk and Martin aren't 2 of the 3 (?). RVB and Kovacs would be my other options. Denard is obviously a star and leader, but I think it should be seniors

Molk/ RVB on offensive line

Martin on defensive line

Kovacs on defensive backs

That sums it up - I can see Molk being replaced by RVB but otherwise this is what it should be. All big effort guys.

I'm 99.8% sure they will be the captians. Koger and Martin are two of the more popular players when it comes to the players, and I'm sure Molk fits in there not far off. Denard will be a captian without the official title.

The coaches have mentioned Koger's leadership on several occasions. I see a lot of Kovacs predictions here, but remember the heavy emphasis on seniors leading the team. Kovacs is one of my favorite guys on this team, but I think they'll pick seniors.

With soooo many stupid threads out there, I'm surprised this one didn't get more upvotes.

I don't see how you leave off Denard. He is a LEADER and the QB. He is the face of UM Football and IIRC one of those responsible for making the off season workouts so successful.
After Denard, probably Martin & then either Molk or Woolfolk.

I would actually like to see a 4th captain that rotates per game.
