TE Alex Smith to announce commitment on Tuesday
Via ESPN, Alex Smith will make his decision on Tuesday. His finalist are Michigan,Wisconsin, and North Carolina. As much as it would be great to have him i would prefer we hand our remaining scholarships to defensive players.

Was just going to ask who had the inside track - thanks for the info Brian. Do we know who the list of visitors is yet for the weekend? Mostly curious about seniors and who may be on officials.

He's still a great athlete and TE. We do need defense, but we should still be very happy if he chooses Michigan and not be disappointed that he doesn't play D...

Considering we're way under the scholarship limit, couldn't we take a few extra players and still be ok?
November 17th, 2009 at 1:26 AM ^
We could take thirty and then have Nick Saban run off the others.

Don't mess with Saban. When he was with the Dolphins, he made one of his defensive linemen cry on the practice field.

whole thing over the fact that the d-lineman came out in the wrong colored shoes for practice and saban just laid into him for it???

No, Big10 has max of 25 per class.

you can "oversign" by 3. the biggest thing you have to worry about is the overall scholarship limit of 85

I believe players that enroll early can be counted towards the previous class...
That gives a little bit of flexibility.

That used to be the case but unfortunately the NCAA changed the rules so now early enrollees count toward the current class.

didn't realize that he had de-committed from cincy. jeremy jackson runs a 4.7 40 people. he'll probably become a tight end.
November 17th, 2009 at 1:49 AM ^
But probably not.
November 17th, 2009 at 4:19 AM ^
As I stated in an earlier post, jeremy jackson is being brought in as a DB. Those are his own words and not someones opinion.
November 17th, 2009 at 6:27 AM ^
No offense, but I have another source who is pretty trustworthy, and he tells me differently. We'll just have to see, I guess...

really?
November 17th, 2009 at 8:12 AM ^
First of all, it would only be the horse's mouth if the previous poster were Jeremy Jackson himself.
Secondly, my "source" is exactly as far removed from Jackson as the previous poster.
So I'm twice removed from Jackson, I've heard two separate things, and I choose to believe the other one because he's proved reliable in the past.

Or would you then have to kill us?
November 17th, 2009 at 9:47 AM ^
I've posted it several times before, so I didn't think it needed rehashing.
In summary:
If they want Jackson to play TE, he'll take his talents elsewhere.
(By the way, there's a good chance that Fred Jackson won't be here next year, so Jeremy's dad might not be the draw that many think it will be.)

Is there a link to these words

I'm hoping we get good news from Cullen Christian next Tuesday. We need him badly!
