Tate's in a sling

I know I heard something about this on the forums and it has been kinda beaten to death but I saw Tate on campus this morning and I can confirm that he did have his arm in a sling. I was just wondering what everybody thoughts were on this. He didn't seem to baby it too much as he was moving his arm slightly. That encouraged me slightly but the fact that's in the sling is worries me some.

Me fail english thats unpossible!

He'll play Saturday. Putting it in a sling is the best way to protect it and to remind Tate that he shouldn't be using the arm.

At this point I'd rather not know anything - or more importantly have the upcoming opponents know anything that can assist their planning.

I'm sure there are multiple levels of coaching gamesmanship. It wouldn't surprise me if they (MSU)had someone hanging out around campus so they can get a read on Tate's condition.

Let's see what happens Saturday. I'd love to see both teams at full strength. That's not going to happen. This will only add to the rivalry and the legend of Tate.

How could you not expect him to be in a sling? Even if it's just a bruise as they say it obviously was a pretty serious bruise for him to be gingerly walking off the field after an exciting TD pass. There's no reason for it not to be in a sling and also no reason for him to take any snaps in practice until at best Thursday. Good opportunity to give Denard much needed time with the first stringers and even get Sheridan some more time. I'm still not 100% sold on his playing this Saturday. That could easily be coach speak to not let MSU know that he will be out and plan accordingly. They want the MSU staff to think he will be playing up until they run out onto the field. That will be the only time I believe it is when I see him out there. If Michigan can get ahead as well look to see him benched early and put on ice. He's far too valuable to risk for one game even if it is the MSU game.

Calling it a bruise doesn't portray this in the right way. Its likely an acute muscle strain deep near the joint, and will linger all season. It wont have a big effect on performance and likely wont have lasting effects like playing on a separated shoulder needing surgery end of season. Little things can aggrevate it and it is quite painful if your consistantly doing so. It has the feeling of tearing, but its muscular and not something to panic about... based on evidence observed from 900 miles away...It's all good and he's a tough proud kid.

As a medical student, I know that keeping an acute shoulder bruise wrapped (Ace bandage) and in a sling will help reduce the swelling. Depending on the bruise you can be in that sling for 48 hours to weeks, but it looks like Tate's injury isn't so serious that he needs weeks of rehab. I will not be surprised if they keep him in the sling to reduce swelling all week because the throwing motion can easily exacerbate the injury and then we would probably have more Sheridan sightings.

This is typical with shoulder sprains. Tate should be fine if he actually has a grade 1 sprain like he said.

To me, what would be ideal is Denard would start the game, we'd score on our first 3 possessions, and our D would shut out MSU in the 1st quarter. If that were to happen I think we'd leave Tate on the bench. If we can win without him, then I'm all for benching him. I do understand that this most likely will not happen, but in my perfect world it would.

and they only allow him to put the scope on it on saturdays, since accuracy like that everyday just isn't fair.

This is different from Robo-Henne, who learned the hard way it's impossible to conceal a Howitzer in your t-shirt. He was only allowed to carry it around because as long as you were close to it, it'd probably miss. If you're 80 yards downwind, however, "Hasta la vista, baby".
